McCammon- could he become a cult hero?

Can Big Mac become a CULT hero for the Albion?

  • Yes, if he keeps doing what he's doing.

  • No, there's only one CULT hero and that's JC the football GENIUS

Knight actually puts in more work then people give him credit for. He is just an easy target.

He might not run about like a headless chicken in the same way Vrigo did and Hart and Robinson tend to but often that is just him being sensible.

His game is all about speed over the first five yaurds so no point him being knackered when the ball eventually gets to him.

McCammon did ok and I could understand him being tired toward the end but he was not putting much work in even when he first came on and on more then one occasion Kazim-Richards ran past him to put a defender under pressure.

Obviously he is lacking match fitness but I was only raising the question because I remember when we signed him last season he seemed to have the same problem.

I thought there was a definite difference between Knight's efforts yesterday and his normal laid back, energy-conserving approach. I could be wrong, but I didn't think his heart was in it.

Regards Big Mac, I think CKR running past him has more to do with basic speed than effort being put in. I've seen Milk turn quicker than McCammon.

I think the game just passed Knight by in most respects.

He won a few unexpected headers and even managed to chase his own flick ons on a couple of occasions but the game just could not have been less suited to him.

The scraps he had to feed off were pitifull.

He will be better against a footballing team like Southampton.

I concur. Knight was below-par, but hoofing the ball all game was never going to bring the best out of him. Hard to say what type of game Luton will be - they're relatively physical, but as we tend to play on the break more away from home, it might be a good one for Knight.

Put it this way, McCammon isn't a great player by any stretch but he gets stuck in, wins a lot in the air and holds the ball up ok. I feel with him in the team the creative players are given more time and space to do things on the ball as the other defence feels like they can't bully them anymore and are worried about Super Mac landing them in, say, a sand pit.

Keep fulminating BG - look out for the teamsheet for the 16 tomorrow, he'll be on it and he'll also play a part in the game, hope you're making the effort to watch it

That doesnt add weight to your argument it just confirms that like everything else that MM does you agree with 100% but even god can make mistakes.

It is really a case of 'Hobsons Choice'.

Yeah, OK, it's all a big "mistake" that McGhee is picking Big Mac, nothing to do with the fact that he's played well in every single one of his 4 games for us this year.

Thanks for your weighty argument :)
