Matt Thornhill ...

Family member of Matt Thornhill has said that he is on his way to you lot on loan next season. He has played some great games for Forest and has bucket loads of talent. Plays in the centre of the park and would be a brilliant addition in League 1. Just thought you lot might wanna know. More detail on the Forest-Mad boards.

Loans, Loans, Loans, Loans, Loans, Loans, loans. Can't we afford to buy any bloody players???????????????????????????????????????????????

I don't see why people are moaning about loans. Yes, they screwed us up last season but that was because our team consisted of 5 loans at a time, all for about 6 weeks each.

If we get one or two quality season long loans, then I for one will be very happy. Thornhill would be a good signing:thumbsup:

Thornhill would be a quality signing. Crowe and Thornhill would really improve our midfield :)

...yeah, fair point H~H...people were creaming themselves a couple of weeks ago at the prospect of season long loans for two Arsenal youngsters...not all loans are short term or crap, many come here with the intention of playing first team football and impressing their own club into the bargain!

If we've just had a net exodus of about 10 players and released money for wages shouldn't a club "on the up" witha new chairman and new ground on the horizon be looking to BUY? Great, so we knock the rough edges off a player for a bigger club.

Sorry, but I'm all "loaned out" and would rather watch a team comprised of players contracted permanently to this club with something to play for. Hasn't Gary Hart and "The Great Escape " taught us anything?

I tend to agree, last season should be taken as a lesson not to be repeated.
Looking at some of the comments it looks like you are talking yourselves into it.

On the flip side, our loanees or temporary contracts saved the day. Shall we just leave it to Adams' or the scouts poor judgement? I feel we were just rotten to the core last season. We needed hungry players, but most of all, we needed a hungry manager. We have that now and the rest should follow accordingly.

:bowdown:completely agree. People have criticised our loan players too much last year and whilst I agree we had too many loan players you can't get away from the fact that it was down to getting in the right sort of loan players...ie. those with something to prove.

You are spot on. This loan system is a joke, a few years ago teams would only get them in if they were injury hit, now they build teams around loanees.

Also to be talking about signing loan players even before we have made a permanent signing is madness. If anything we should be building our own squad as a priority, you know, one that includes our own players and not those from another club.

One of the few decent things Mickey came out with last year was him saying that it would be a kick in the teeth for his players of he put a squad together then went out and got loan players. He did not get much right second time round but that was something he did. Of course, he then went panic loaning a few months later, but there you go.

I am sure Slade is no idiot and he realises the need to actually construct his own squad first and with the new found money sloshing about the need for loaning players should be non-existant.

Albion & England forever.

100% agree with that... loans should be the SECOND prize... we should NOT be looking for loans now... get some in to cover injuries, suspensions by all means...

But... logically, I would expect a perm signing to be more motivated to fight for HIS club's cause... yes, we got in some good loans at the end of the season, but, on balance, I would much prefer to have perm signings...

Loan players are unmotivated and nowhere near as good as pernament players.

That Paul McShane was rubbish.
