Well done Matt, what a turn around from zero to hero

I see Luke Wright has been awarded an incremental contract as well.

Full contracts James Anderson, Ian Bell, Stuart Broad, Paul Collingwood, Alastair Cook, Graham Onions, Kevin Pietersen, Matt Prior, Ryan Sidebottom, Andrew Strauss and Graeme Swann

Incremental contracts Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Andrew Flintoff, Adil Rashid, Owais Shah, Jonathan Trott and Luke Wright

EDIT: Thinking about it he might have had one already.

Good news and hopefully that will take some pressure of him for a while as our wicket-keeper. Giving Bell one is a little odd though. And hopefully this'll see Harmy retire

The ECB today announced that Matt Prior has been awarded a 12 month central contract for the period from 1 October 2009 to 30 September 2010.

Prior, as well as Graham Onions and Graeme Swann were the three new names on the list which is as follows; James Anderson, Ian Bell, Stuart Broad, Paul Collingwood, Alastair Cook, Graham Onions, Kevin Pietersen, Matt Prior, Ryan Sidebottom, Andrew Strauss and Graeme Swann.

A further seven players, including Luke Wright, have been awarded England increment contracts: Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Andrew Flintoff, Adil Rashid, Owais Shah, Jonathan Trott and Luke Wright.

Players awarded a 12-month England Central Contract are paid by ECB rather than their county. Players awarded an Increment Contract receive an additional one-off payment from ECB on top of the salary they receive from their First Class County.
National Selector Geoff Miller said: “I am delighted that Graham Onions, Matt Prior and Graeme Swann have all been awarded 12 month central contracts for the first time.

“Central Contracts are designed to reward players who perform well consistently for England and all three have made a very significant contribution to the team’s recent success in regaining the Ashes and beating West Indies at home in both Test and One-Day Series.

“Following his retirement from Test cricket, Andrew Flintoff is no longer eligible for a 12 month central contract. The decision to award an Incremental Contract to Andrew reflects our view that he will still have an important role to play in our One-Day side going forward and we wish him well with his rehabilitation from injury. As we saw in this summer’s npower Ashes Test series, he remains a world-class talent.

“Likewise, the award of incremental contracts to Tim Bresnan, Adil Rashid and Jonathan Trott for the first time is in recognition of the excellent start they have all made to their international careers and their potential to develop still further as cricketers over the next 12 months.”

Very good news indeed, now that gives a two finger salute to his critics. And the berk on here, who thinks he isn't better then Foster & The "waiting in the wings" Davies. Still a little surprised that Harmy hasn't got one, maybe that could mean his retirement espically after his dismal bowling performance for Durham today. 0 for 108.

Good to see Matt Prior grabbing his chance and taking it woth both hands - nice to see a Sussex player up thee too - all too often the selectors seem to have had an 'anyone not from Sussex' fixation.
Sadly, getting a central contract will now herald a dismal loss of form............
