Atalanta now reportedly given up on this and going for Lazar Samardzic (weren’t we reportedly interested a year or so ago?) from Udinese instead.
Could O’Riley to Brighton still be on……?

At a reported €20m, the Samardzic deal looks like good value.

I don’t think that there is room in the squad or the transfer budget for O’Riley and Rutter. But they could play together in a central midfield with Wieffer in a 4-3-3.

Looking at the side yesterday, there’s an obvious Milner shaped hole. Neither he nor WBG are ideal for that progressive CM role. And Rutter usually plays further forward. Still think we need O’Riley (or similar)

There are players who have to prove themselves now. If Baleba and a few others wants to play theyd better get some performances in. Enzisko,Ferguson, Estupian, Barco, Gruda, Rutter to come… good innit ?

Don’t think it’ll work like that. I personally feel we need another starting CM whether Billy goes or not - I expect Dahoud to go too. It’s the one position, along with fullback cover where I feel we’re short.
