Don't think that's the right question!

Is X player as good as or better than what we already have in squad?

If yes sign, then work out who plays where and when later.

Love Dunky, and have loved seeing the rise of JPVH whose a great young fella and quality player, but nobody is bigger than club.

If you ever get the chance to add such calibre of player, its a first world problem worth having

This is a comparison from last season.

Defensively, Hummels is a couple of levels above.

Yes and no……it was more a crass interpretation of how the club deeply assess character as well as footballing ability when recruiting…….
Which they clearly do. It has been successful. You have to bear in mind that rich, young, non educated, not worldy men aren't going to be saints always. But we've avoided some of the worst examples.

No disrespect to any of our CBs but even at 35 he would be the best CB we have by quite some distance. If he wanted to come here and we could pay what he wanted without upsetting the apple kart would take him in a heart beat.

I disagree. 5 years ago obviously yes but not now, I’d take Dunk and JPVH over him.

I think a lot of opinions on here are based on his Champions League performances last season but that has not been the norm for him for 2/3 years.

If he brought last seasons form from the CL and his league form as well we would be a far superior defensive unit with him in it. He was decent in the league the previous season as well. Defensively his stats are far far superior to anyone we have. He was most likely the best player in the whole CL last year. He statistics for it were phenomenal. Dunk and especially JPVH would learn so much.
Always good to have differing opinions but I think he would make us a lot more solid

Didn't Dortmund lose the league on the last day of the 22/23 season with him at CB?

That was then followed by him being in the CL team of the season last year

Seems ok to me

Not a competition, all three will make us very strong especially if one gets an injury or suspension. Count me in for having a CL final defender available for the Albion!
