Presented by numpties on matches that I'd rather observe paint dry than watch and apparised by pundits whose specialist topic on mastermind
would be 'the bleedin obvious' - but who wouldn't make it on there
because they haven't a combined IQ greater than 4.

Surely MOTD is needs to be pulled - it is such utter, utter
crap.

So you'd rather have no terrestrial highlights at all than ones with someone you don't like in between them? Wow, that seems sensible. :glare:

hardly the Beebs fault that sky... i mean the premier league rescheduled the good games to be on Sunday so they can be televised live.

Or that people have bought into the fact that the games only worth of mention are those involving the top four or cup games beyond round three.

f*** it, why bother going to watch the Albion either.

Not at all (for me anyway). Just that Villa 0-0 Fulham and the like plus the boring opinions of boring smug bores on said is not exactly an appetising prospect. MOTD is rubbish, Hansen, Lineker and co are clearly more interested in golf and Shearer is more interested in undermining every Newcastle manager and then not taking the job. And all ITV football coverage is pretty much shit.

Somewhere over there...
It's better than ITV because it hasn't got adverts.

The only thing that could make it better was if the BBC interactive thingy had extended highlights and maybe have different people all the time instead of Hanson, Lawerson and Shearer.

If it was up to me I'd have a complete rehau of the staff. Hansen can be on every now and then, but his position is no longer so safe that he can sit there smugly talking crap all night. Lawrensen can go - he's an arsehole. Everyone knows Shearer is a crap pundit, great player and he's English, but a pundit he ain't.

Linekar can do England matches, the rest of the time he annoys me. As a host I'd have Adrian Chiles, or more adventurously go for James Richardson off the Guardian Football Weekly Podcast (and loads of other stuff probably that I haven't seen). He's quite knowledgeable but crucially, unlike Lineker, he has a sense of humour which involves more than smugness. He's also not afraid to criticise the way the game has gone with "The Big 4" every now and then rather than pretending like it's the most exciting title ever year after year.

Pundits would unclude Lee Dixon and Jamie Redknapp (if they could get him off Sky). Gavin Peacock should come back as well, but I know he's retired from punditry.

Agree with most of that. Although Lee Dixon does come from the school of stating the obvious as well, so he can go. I would have Martin Keown as the regular pundit as he talks sense and can actually string several coherent sentences together in a row.

As a host I would agree with Adrian Chiles although I would love to see Des back. How good would that be?!

Other pundits would include the entire Soccer Saturday panel, excluding Merson.

I thought ITV coverage of the 1st round of the fa cup was far superior to anything the bbc served up in the years it showed it,they seemed to have around 3 mins of every game rather than the BBC wich just showed the goals, and if there were lots of goals they just showed the last couple for watever reason, saying all that we are out of the cup and i dont give a shyte :(

I was watching final score on the beeb, and the reporter on the Boro' Newcastle match said "this game was so bad, if it was being played in my garden I'd've closed the curtains"
:lolol:

I was thinking the same as this thread - that it was exceedingly crap this week, but apart from the plate-faced "has-beens" that Lineaker introduced to wry looks - the fare available to them was pretty third-rate without any top sides on (albeit with Villa performing relatively poorly and Hull stalemated).

What it means though, is a better MOTD this evening.
Trouble is, no way to get an early night in before work tomorrow.

This is why I don't bother with the Saturday edition now, but always wait for the MOTD2 programme on Sunday evening.

It's usually on earlier, you get to see all the games rather than whatever crap is left for Saturday after Sky have decimated the programme, and best of all, there's no Lineker, Hansen or Lawrenson disappearing up their own arses with their golf club old boys routine.

Give me Adrian Chiles and Lee Dixon any time.
