Aston Villa have denied rumours that Martin O'Neill has quit the club.

Unconfirmed claims are circulating in the Midlands that the Villa Park chief has resigned following a disagreement with chairman Randy Lerner.

It is understood that the club's American owner wanted to trim the playing squad and cut the wage bill this summer, while O'Neill wanted money to spend to bolster his squad to continue their challenge to break into the top four.

When told that money would not be forthcoming, the Ulsterman is believed to have decided to consider his future, but the club insists he has not resigned.

well Villa arent going to progress with a cut of squad and wages. they are quite close to making a difference to the top4, probably need a couple more choice players. if he's been told to tread water, i can see why O'Neil might decide to leave (though if he's smart he'll stay around until the Old Trafford vacancy comes up, cant be long now)

FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
Oneill has spent quite a bit of money already, however they had the smallest squad in the league when he joined them and its still a lot smaller than at least half of the prem, and way behind the 6 clubs he is competing with.

Im an oneill fan, you watch them plummet if he goes.

As much as im an oneill fan, i know he cant spot a player..he never picks up a gem you have never heard of like other managers.
He would be great at Liverpool i have no doubt.

No doubt its all COMPLETE BOLLOCKS though.

O'Neill should just live with it.

He is God at Villa, but look at Moyes last summer when he had to trim the wages, he didn't complain. All good managers are good when the going is great, its when the going is tough usually decides how great they are.

Compare that with Adams and Slade to Poyet aswell
