...is on the shortlist for the Bristol Rovers job, along with Keith Curle, Richard Money and Geraint Williams. Think he'd do well there actually, not sure where it's gone wrong for them this season considering who they signed in the summer. I wonder if they still have Virgo as well?!

He'll probably do a great job for them.
Always liked him and it was just a shame really that he lost the dressing room here. But then if he hadn't, we probably wouldn't be where we are now.
Will always have a soft spot for him after that wonderful day out in Cardiff.
And boy, did he know how to hold on to a one goal lead!

Maybe its just me, I never liked him, sometimes I did like his honesty in some interveiws but didnt rate him as a manager, and was it alleged he was a bit of a racist? I didnt want to start the usual NSC race row by saying that either

Good football manager - always rated him for getting results on the pitch and not that well treated by the club but as a bloke off the pitch much less so. Think Williams will get the Gas job tbh and yes Virgo is there but out for the season injured

Top bloke. Rovers would be lucky to get him. And, yes, Virgs will no doubt love to work with the mastermind behind his move to Celtic again.

Top guy, but some of the football served up under him was the worst post-Gillingham. I remember chatting to a few fans on Porto Harbour at Euro 2004, and when we told them that we were Brighton fans, they rolled their eyes and said that we are possibly the worst team in history to have won promotion. (They were Villa and Everton fans).

Found it hard to disagree with them, however brilliant the day in Cardiff was.

There was a most splendid photo of him in the back of the Argus on Saturday looking very much like a ginger cabbage patch kid.

I've got a lot of time for Mark McGhee and would like to see him back in management. I think he can do much better than Bristol Rovers - a club like Stevenage would be more appealing.

Steve Claridge said in his autobiography that McGhee's man-management skills were awful - I'm sure they were tested by Leon Knight! But tactically and knowledge-wise he was a great manager.

McGhee had both arms and legs tied behind his back here and still done great things. Would love to see what he would do if he stayed at a club for any length of time that actually had some serious money..Think you would see a different style of play than what we did here where he worked on a shoestring....and never forget he got his mate Strachan to part with a million and half for Virgo!!!

Would be a brilliant appointment for Bristol Rovers - and potentially not bad for him either. They should be doing much better than they currently are in the league. I reckon he could well get them promoted next year
