He is in fight or flight mode.

No I am sure you would fight, you would run for the hill gump style, we are different if I was an MP in today's environment and any stranger/protestor got within reach of me I would do exactly the same. The question is protestors have to realise not to intrude on a person or they risk the consequences, she got off lightly.

For the record, my wife or my daughter would NOT INVADE a private party.

It's so hard to see Corbyn doing anything but running to the hills hand in hand with The CAMP and no he wouldn't he would be defending his territory, even Corbyn would be right to do it.

Brand was inciting all the nutters out there and causing tension that leads to responses like Fields did, the stress is high, and BLAND just stoked it up, silly moo.

It's funny you should say that, I once stood inside a tall box and one of my work companions asked this guy to put this box in the bin, as he lifted it I stuck my head out the top with a big loud OII, the colleague went mentally for about 2 minutes throwing punches into my body swinging for my head and then chasing me for about 200m, he was shaking for nearly an hour.
It was funny, and I knew the risks, I can still see the rage now he was in fight mode!

I know he has apologised, but let's face it he has too for the sake of Britains snowflakes.

Pathetic.

Looking carefully at the footage, there is a point very soon after he’s grabbed her and pushed her against the wall where she is actually walking away and he follows her and grabs the back of her neck. While she’s walking away.
He should be charged for this.
It looked to me that he pushes her forward and then grabs her neck again, so yes, completely agree.

edit: Also the look in his eyes speaks far more of fury than any other concern imo.

As I said earlier, I don't think the incident should be blown out of proportion but are you seriously saying you don't watch that video and think at the very least "Blimey that's a bit strong" and that it's, at best, an overreaction? .

"Blimey that`s a bit strong". with hindsight(obviously something he didn`t have at the time) yes I agree ! "
Because it's really not acceptable behaviour even if you take into account the circumstances" this is where our opinions differ . I believe that he perceived (wrongly as it turned out) a real threat.

One or two utter knobs on here. Defending the bloke for an action that is entirely unwarranted. There is absolutely no way he was concerned for his safety, he was just angry that these people were interrupting the event. It's that simple. His continued actions after he 'realised' it was a small middle-aged woman tells you he is full of shit. It's ultimately not a big deal, but it tells you a lot about someone if they react in this way.

I wonder who the 'real' Mark Field is, the pro-freedom of speech and women's activism chap that posts shit on Twitter, or the ruddy-faced bullshit merchant we see on this video.

I love how having a bit of respect for your fellow human and their rights makes you a snowflake these days. Frankly, I think if you can't be responsible for your own actions then that makes you the snowflake.

There's an increasing feeling of Field's uncontrollable oik alert going off, when watching it.
You and your people will not sully this occasion and mirthful anecdote with your unplucked arms and guttersnipe waffle!

Personally If I'd been at that terminally dull evening I'd have relished a bit of a disturbance. Liven the old stiffs up a bit.

But this reeks of "How dare, HOW DARE a member of the public not treat me and my very important supper with the reverence we so obviously deserve". It's entitlement rage and he and his apologists are trying to pas it off as some kind of mortal fear Field's was experiencing, unable to control his primal instinct to fight danger. Over privileged tosser.

This woman was invading a private dinner with the intention of disruption at the very least. Assault is a bit OTT..he got hold of her and escorted her out of the room. Well done him !!

Why does the fact that he`s a "senior politician" have anything to do with it ? It seems most like to politicise everything these days !!

Fair play to him, she has no right to protest peaceful or otherwise at what I assume is a private event.
No one knew it was a “peaceful protest” she could have had a knife and been a crazed attacker for what anyone knew.
Personally I’d have dropped her with a flying elbow and then held her in a figure four leglock until she tapped for submission.

Why way over the top? She could have have been armed and she's made her way into a private event uninvited, clearly security has failed and he's protecting the Minister? Nothing to see. move on.

What are all your thoughts on Brighton protests in the Goldstone era, just out of interest?

Should Bill Archer have got private security to rough up fans that went to his home? Should the club have hired more private security + got the police involved to baton fans protesting at the Goldstone (a private venue) ? What about fans that broke the goals?

If that that had happened to your wife or daughter you’d be the first to scream “assault”.

Hey, we're all different. If that was my wife or daughter I'd have frogmarched her out myself before any politician could do it for her.

Stupid thing to do, and what has it achieved? All everyone is talking about is Mark Field - not any point or belief the woman was trying to get across...

I really don't think bumbling into a banquet is a very intelligent way of protesting, but maybe I'm old fashioned.

Protester makes move towards cabinet minister and gets taken out. I see no problem with that. Silly cow.

I think it's the perfect venue and delivers the correct message. "while you mob of Bullingdon tossers are sitting in your DJ's, congratulating yourselves over toasts and the finest wines, the ****ing earth is dying". The time for these extravagant banquets all paid for by the taxpayer while nurses queue up at food banks ( I know that's not what they were protesting) and Mum's are resorting to survival sex or rent for sex in the 21st ****ing century in one of the wealthiest countries on earth, should be at an end.

You would push your daughter or wife against a pillar, grab them by the back of the neck and march them out? Nice.

Just because someone is on private property without permission it does not give anyone the right to treat them however they want.

It's all becoming clearer now. Mark Field hates climate protesters, he lost it last night and his comment about worrying she might have been armed is an outright lie.

No, I'd probably go for the headlock and a swift leg twitching drag along the carpet!

I was being metaphorical, of course. Please don't put words in my mouth. Thanks.

Whilst I don't like these self-serving tosspots any more than you do, I have to say that I think 99.99% of the UK population who watched this clip didn't immediately think "wow, yeah - climate change and food banks, that's the message!" - they just saw some dopey looking bird get roughly marched out of a private gathering.

I'm not saying she was wrong to protest, I'm just saying I think she went about it wrongly. Mark Field could have just outstretched his arms and shepherded her out, so he's not in the right either by the way..

If, in the bizarre event you ever wanted to know which NSCers to trust with your daughter, this thread and the one about that charity do would be an excellent place to start weeding out the 'avoids'.
