Over the last three seasons in the Premier League

Marcus Rashford
100 games
22 PL goals

About to sign a £200k a week contract on the back of it.

Ashley Barnes
101 games
27 PL goals

Sunday league standard at best...apparently.

Ahem. I think you're forgetting: Mr Burns said we're not allowed to use stats when discussing Ashley.

Still dream of Ashley Barnes one day coming back into the Albion fold. Sadly was the same old Albion striker story: ship out the very decent ones earlydoors, hang on to the duffers forever.

Barring injury/suspension, Ashley Barnes will score 15+ PL goals this coming season, with Chris Wood not that far behind. Meanwhile we'll be giving Locadia and Andone WAY too many opportunities to reach even half that total. Because, guess what, now they're apparently 'unshackled'. Righty ho. IMHO they're not going to be troubling the judges very often at this level this season. Same as last season really.

Should know enough by end of September and the first tranche of winnable games. Tho some of us know enough already.

Agree were Locadia is concerned but think Andone may have a little bit more about him and may train on for a proper pre season and time to acclimatize to the league and a new country.

Sort of agree with you re Andone. Ashley Barnes lrvels of aggression, the likes of which effete aerosoles like Sideshow David Luiz absolutely hate. Still always looks like a red card card in waiting to me tho, without much of the goal threat of AB.

I've nothing against Barnsey at all he was brilliant for us (the penalty remark above was merely a jibe at a few on NSC that used to always moan that he "only scored penalties" :lolol:). But I also think you're being a little over dramatic over our current strikers and season ahead.

Over-dramatic? Our only proven goal scorer (unless you count Duffy) is on the brink of retirement and will be playing more and more of a bit-part this season. There's literally NOBODY waiting in the wings to take on his role. How scary is that - unless you really really relish the prospect of Championship football.

That's assuming we don't sign a new striker. Which is a player most sources say the club very much want to sign.

It seems Potter likes his strikers to press from the front. That would seem to suit Andone much more than any of our other options up top.

Well all bets are off if that happens. Obviously. Tho it tends not to happen to us. When was the last time we signed a striker we didn't have to google? Nowadays it's actually a bonus to find they actually have a work permit to work in England.

He never has scored 15+ in the Prem so why will he this season ?

He's 29. For the last four PL seasons he's scored progressively more gials, season on season. He's comfortable at this level. He'll comfortably score 15 PL goals this season. Tho feel free to bounce if he only scores, say, 14.

Let's go for Edinson Cavani! I'll chip in a fiver.

I’m not that bothered to be honest, he is ok but I’d say he has found his fit at Burnley. They play very much in a type of way that suits Ashley. Proper aggressive in your face team and he feeds off scraps very very well.

Don’t think he’d suit how we play, neither under CH or most probably Potter.

Hmmmm I'd say Ashley Barnes ably demonstrates that hype has nothing to do with tangible ability. He is so un-flair in every sense, sure he tried to up the flair level by declaring for Austria, but BOY did he hit the unfashinable button on the nose by joining an unfashionable club, with an unfashionable (ginger) manager and footballing ethos.

He aint going to be driving to training in a jelly suspension proffering pimped ride from the Bronx, he probably takes the number 62 from Stalybridge.

There's no dry ice nor dwarf's on stilts juggling miniature versions of the PL trophy in Ashley's world, he's all about cold hard reality and facts. The fact is, he's better than Rashford at what he does, scoring goals. Man Utd could do worse than building a team around his ethic, his tenacity and his actual ability. Brilliant player, and if there was any justice in this world, he'd be the one joining Utd for £50 million.

Alas, akin to a lost classic album from the world of early 70s rock - he'll only be appreciated in 30 years when people realise there was more going on than the back cat of Led Zeppelin. Sigh.

Do you have stats for minutes played rather than games?
You could play 100 games and only play 100 minutes.
