Marcus has been magnificent

No question he should be Sports Personality of the Year.

Showing amazing leadership, compassion and putting his money where his mouth is at such a young age

The best thing recently by miles that has helped to improve
the often squalid image of the Premier League

I reckon someone will definitely try to do a hatchet job on him in the next few weeks for drinking half a shandy on his 18th or something. The editor of whichever outlet runs the story should be forced to describe what they were contributing to society when they were 22.

Maybe they could write about his 21st birthday, which is on Haloween, where he spent time after dinner giving out £20 notes to trick or treaters

That'll make for an interesting dynamic in the Old Trafford dressing room.

The club captain spends the close season getting convicting of brawling in Greece whilst running up a bar bill of £60'000 whilst Marcus Rashford leads a campaign with quiet dignity and maturity to ensure under-priviliged kids get enough to eat each day.

I wonder which one really is the true leader of Manchester United?

A good person is not necessarily a good leader (at least on a football pitch) and a good leader is not necessarily a good person.

l like Marcus though, he could just do like 95% of the players in his situation and dont give a **** about anything but fancy cars, but instead he tries to do stuff. Uncommon.

How can I vote for Marcus, or join his party?

Its great what Rashford has done.

But MBE is a bit over the top, basically, he used his profile.

There are 100 more people who try to help people and spend a lot more time at it but don't get the recognition. But of course, they are not a pro footballer on 100k a week.

If I was him I'd turned it down and said give it to someone more deserving.

I suspect the reason he was so successful was because he is a high profiler footballer ...... a no name from national league wouldn’t be anywhere near as successful.

This is no reflection on Marcus who I think did a brilliant job, but I wonder how many politically motivated honours can be snuck in while we are all congratulating Marcus.

Throughout the whole of history the honours system has been there primarily to reward friends of the rich and powerful.

lots of public schoolboys get honours for simply doing their well paid jobs, but for some reason you've not mentioned them, curious

Theresa May's husband got a Knighthood for getting rich off a tax avoidance scheme.

Don't get me started on Philip Green !!
