Maradonna was by far the most gifted player I believe I ever watched on TV.

His spin through a challenge was awesome and I have yet to see another player do this. Also he single handedly defeated Belgium (I believe) in a world cup semi.

I have to admit I have only ever seen old footage of Pele so cannot really comment and the only other two players I would say ever came close to Maradonna were Cruyff and Platini.

However we could debate this for quite a while.........

Always worth remembering that he played in an era where the professional foul didn't exist and where you virtually had to maim someone before you got booked, let alone sent off.

The TV channels in Argentina are full of this story! It's incredible the amount of coverage it is getting and I can't imagine what it will be like if things turned out badly for him. Maybe it would even keep next week's Falklands/Malvinas commemorations off the front pages! (It's a public holiday on Monday for Malvinas Day!!).

It seems Diego was admitted against his wishes. He was effectively committed to hospital! What I don't understand was how the media got to the hospital before he did, so they had to use a back way in to hide him from too many cameras. The scene outside the hospital is chaotic!

Freedom of the press, don't you just love it.
