BBC Sport reporting Potter saying that Albion tried to get last night's game postponed:

Brighton boss Graham Potter questioned how long "football can continue on the path it's on" after revealing the Covid-hit Seagulls had wanted their game against Wolves to be postponed:

On Wednesday, Brighton lost 1-0 at home to Wolves - to extend their winless run to 12 matches in all competitions.

"We asked the question, yes, because of our situation," Potter said.

"It is what it is. All you can do is put your case forward, speak to people and they make the decision."

For me, that's the problem. it should be clear guidelines, i.e. if less than X of the 25 man squad have a positive PCR result within 12/24 hours of kick off then its game on. At the moment it seems to be so vague. as someone else mentioned, its like they asked the FIA to decide for them currently!

I agree totally about clear guidelines. When I read Potters comments I was really angry that we had been shafted however in the cold light of day of the four players down with Covid two wouldn’t have played (Steele/Locadia) one is not a guaranteed starter (Gross) in a position where we have a lot of cover and so only one could be considered a significant impact in Maupay.

Had Welbeck been fit or we had better options up front then it wouldn’t have been such an issue and that’s not the Premier Leagues fault.

Sure Covid has compounded our injury issues but that’s not a reason to cancel the match.

I do hope the Man United game is off though, give us some breathing space.

all for safety but utd have to play these games with only 3-4 guys out. that portuguese team had to play with 7 players!

A game that got abandoned and is now being investigated by the league to see if health protocols were followed and the threat of Belenenses suing officials for being told to play the game despite their Covid outbreak. Not really a good example of the show must go on.

Man Utd have now reported 19 cases across the club, it seems inevitable that the game is going to be called off.

Yep, also just received the COVID declaration for the game.

The outbreak at United seems to be 19 players and staff with at least 17 first teamers training at Carrington yesterday.

I think this one is 50/50 at the moment.

Pretty sure we're going to get no help whatsoever from Man U in postponing this game. They will try to make this game happen.

They know we are there for the taking.

Fantastic news, back in the treatment room for the injured lads and hopefully we'll have some first choice centre backs back in for the Brentford game (if that goes ahead)

Spurs ask for postponement - accepted, Brighton ask - rejected, Man U ask - accepted.

Strange that!

Don't forget to include Watford in your 'big club bias' argument
