It was nine against eleven. If it was working at all, it was only because Burnley were so truly madly deeply shite. That '5 minutes earlier' is neither here nor there. Too little, too late. If we were going to salvage something out of the game, he needed bringing on at the traditional 60/70 minute mark. IMHO, like.

Eh? Wasn't working ...ye burnley wer shite but fek give our team some credit ....anyway night sunshine off for a night out...enjoy

Give us a break. Any player that comes on with two minutes left and turns the game, then that's a bit of luck. It's not some kind of bollocks masterplan. Give that same player twenty minutes at the end and you might just have a case. As things stand today, it was just shit tactics giving him two minutes. Probably cost us a point.

But if CMS had scored as he should have done then it would have been a masterplan, or luck as you put it. People were doubting Poyet when he made two early changes, but it so nearly proved right. I think Poyet is a little more clued up than you give him credit for. That said and for whats its worth, I cant work out for the life of me why Barnes was starting with a fully fit Buckley on the bench.

I was hoping to see Willie around 65 to 70 minutes as I thought Gus would gamble to 3-3-2 but what do I know

I was really pissed off that Buckley came on so late, but then I had a think about it......

Gus clearly planned to keep Noone - who was excellent - on for the whole game in case he came up with a bit of magic, and was always planning to bring Buckley on for Nav or Brids. Thus, he knew he couldn't make that decision too early as a completely empty central midfield would've found themselves even more overrun and we may have lost by 2 or 3. So I think it kinda made sense to bring Buckers on late.

Thats my take on it anyway.

We played it perfectly with nine men. All you can do in those circumstances is try to stay in the game for as long as possible, and hope to take your chances if the opposition start getting nervy which is what happened. I would have gone for broke around 80 minutes, but as mentioned we were defending set pieces and Burnley were content with just keeping the ball.

We LOST, our best million pound finisher actually went onto the pitch @ 89 minutes. Absolute shambles of a decision, we had 3 good chances in the last 10 mins & Buckley would have put one away. 0-2 is the same as 0-1, zero points.. Poyet had the ammo to make a bit of history & blew it, no guts no glory

Buckley is great going forward but we were defending for our lives trying to keep the score down to just one goal. If Buckley had come on earlier and we had gone two down, it would have been game over. Noone was playing left wing and left back. Buckley couldn't have coped with that for 30 mins. He should have come on at 85 mins but the ball wasn't allowed to go out of play.

Rubbish thread....those players were immense today

I agree, they ran their hearts out, and got in front of every ball, and made themselves absolute hero's in my eyes...

i finally believe the Amex is now a fully fledged community stadium, because yesterday the fans, the team & the manager were awesome... I am so proud of everyone who was there yesterday (except the officials and the shit burnley fans)..

let's move on from this, and create this atmosphere every home game, not just when we are 2 players down, and losing by a goal.

let's make the stadium a intimidating place, and turn it in to Fortress Amex!!!!

I believe...
