Following on from the egg chasing thread after news that England has been granted both codes of Rugby World Cups, it looks like a great 7 years of sport coming to these shores.

Just need FIFA to do the right thing with the 2018 Football World Cup and then we will have these to enjoy on our doorstep to grip the nation in the sporting drama

2012 - Olympics
2013 - Rugby League World Cup
2013 - The Ashes
2015 - Rugby Union World Cup
2018 - Football World Cup??
2019 - Cricket World Cup

Which ones would you like to attend???

Isn't the Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor next year? (I know it's not England but then, as per this year, there's no guarantee all the Ashes matches will be in England either)

I think there are also plans for the Tour de France to come to England some time in the next few years

Have been to Rugby WC games already so not a priority compared to the other two.

Why have you included the Rugby League World Cup on a list entitled "Major" Sporting Events?

All of the other ones will be well worth attending obviously. :)

Will there not be an Ashes series in 2017 as well? So only need to fill out 2011,2014 and 2016 to have a major sporting event in the United Kingdon every year throughout the decade.

Although you could also argue that 2014 is taken as Glasgow is hosting the Commonwealth games that year.

Since we are talking hypothetically all off them except the Rugby League

In the event, the fears proved unfounded, and the cup was acclaimed a great success. Although many early matches did prove as one-sided as feared, fans still flocked to see "exotic" nations such as Fiji, Tonga and South Africa, mainly for the novelty value of such encounters. Large home crowds for the group involving Wales proved particularly encouraging.

The final between Australia and England drew a crowd of 66,540 to Wembley Stadium.
