Chancellor to give a speech at 3.30 this afternoon?

Anyone got any ideas what this could be?

IT-related? Sounds very very serious.

Lord Canning spilt Strongbow down the back of the abacus and ruined it and Doc Talbot rushing to assist fell and broke to of his fingers so the main ways of calculating whats been paid and whats owed are buggered?

Watchdog last night had a feature about HMRC, all a bit vague and limited to a couple of cases, but basically about people who were sharing National Insurance Numbers and the fact that dossiers with a lifetimes information were being sent to the wrong addresses. Maybe their systems are in melt down?

Doubt it. Company I work for provides the IT and I've heard nowt - We'd usually be informed in advance when we are in the shit.

Since IR and HMC&E merged the whole thing has been going downhill - somehting along those lines I'd hazard a guess at.

Now I recently ordered 2 DVDs from Amazon.

Imagine my disappointment when I opened the parcel and instead of the DVDs I'd ordered ('Die Hard' and 'Mary Poppins'), I'd been sent 2 films I'd never even heard of! Not only that, but they were rubbish!

"HMRC Confidential" was not only short on plot but was also very boring - just a long list of names and NI numbers). To make matters worse, the sequel "HMRC Confidential 2", was virtually identical to HMRC 1. Lazy directing

Mind you, they've also lost lots of staff & offices. Everything is moving to Scotland so you can just imagine how many returns will be lost.
