Are there any restrictions on travel in and out of Spain at the moment? What are the figures of cases atm? I am asking purely for selfish reasons as I am due to visit next month.

Just shy of 1700 at the last count. No travel restrictions as of yet.

And the fact they believe it was hanging around in Italy at least a few weeks prior to first positive discovery. Which would put the Italian and UK plot points pretty close together.

I’ve heard that quite a few times, but the numbers in Italy are quite flat for the first couple of weeks. Once testing had begun, cases didn’t skyrocket immediately which you’d expect if it had simply been an oversight up until that point.

I’m not one for internet dick swinging - I just hope you’re wrong purely because I don’t fancy seeing us like the Italians in the coming days.

Pearl Jam cancelling tour dates. Most of which were festival dates which I would say it is safe to assume would be called off anyway.

Me too. I live in Spain and its certainly following the Italian trend here (they have even backdated a couple of deaths to early Feb due to Covid-19). Germany seems to be another example where they are following the trend which is worrying as you'd expect the Germans to have systems and processes in place to deal with this (even if no one really has the healthcare system to).

I believe were a few days away from Spain and 2 or 3 from Italy. Hope I'm wrong!

(Also very much enjoyed reading your analysis, an excellent post!)

It's the US and Canadian dates that have been cancelled which were pretty much all arenas as far as I can see. Theres been no announcement re the European festival dates as yet. That US run ends mid April so makes sense currently

Lots more to follow - entire music industry scrambling right now. Coachella has been very publicly moved, Weenie Roast (LA festival) canceled before being announced and Lollapalooza supposedly pulling the plug which is an August festival in Chicago so not a good sign for the entertainment industry at large if people are canceling that far out...

Gone from 94 to 358 in five days in Sweden. NO schools have closed, NO travel restrictions (except for "we suggest you dont go to Italy"). Dead quiet from our politicians. And 30 years of destroying our own healthcare system means we have about 500 intensive care beds...

And even if I think its a bit wacky it would actually be a bit comforting if someone started piling up toilet paper and pasta instead of everyone shrugging their shoulders. Its really easy to detect the downsides of 200 years of peace once shit like this happens, no one understands the smell of a looming crisis and everyone blindly trust the government to deal with it.

Could easily see us among the worst in a few weeks, could get really nasty.

When this is all over I do wonder what our view of acceptable number of deaths due to seasonal of flu will be?

Who knows. I read this tweet earlier

Please, please guys. Here in northern #Italy we made one big mistake. Everybody kept saying "It's just flu" and now our intensive care units are collapsing. Everybody kept going outside like nothing happened and now our grandparents and parents are dying.#coronavirus is not #flu

One month old but a reminder that anything the Chinese government say needs to be taken with a salt mine. Yes, I know WHO has been petting China on the head because of their alleged transparency but truth is even WHO cant know unless they have somehow infiltrated the Party.

I just cannot see any scenario at present where the current football season in any league anywhere in this country will get finished.

We have all joked about Liverpool not winning the league and us avoiding relegation due to this virus.

But statistically, players and club staff everywhere, will get it at varying rates.

What a time to be alive (hopefully) - unprecedented except for wartime

Interesting - can't see our game going ahead on Saturday now... I think other clubs will follow suit or the league will postpone

Edit: just read the reasons behind postponement. Perhaps not then, but we'll see what happens over the next few days!

Interesting you say that. The stereotype of Sweden over here is that it's a utopia of socialism (and beautiful women) and its public services are second to none
