I've stocked up on water, toilet paper and dried food. I've advised all my loved ones to do the same. This is going to get bad.

I'm wondering how much the Stock Market will drop when it opens tomorrow morning, precious little good news.

NHS posters about the virus all over Brighton today. What a complete and utter waste of money. Who's paying? The taxpayer. That's me - and some of you.. And what good is it going to do? None. Is anyone going to stop and read a poster with 20 lines of text? No of course not. It's a government/NHS bloody tick-box exercise. Oh look what we've done to alert the public. Information on posters all over the country. Didn't we do well? Did anyone wonder if that would be a good use of public money? Of course not.

Meh, they are probably damned if they do and damned if they don't tbh.

I know it would never happen, but the whole world needs to stop travelling for a month so each country can get control of this virus.

I've been thinking that for about three weeks.

Trying to contain it while allowing international travel is a game we were always going to lose. Stopping international travel would have massive consequences, but then so will the fact that we didn't. We had to pick our poison, I personally think we made the wrong choice.

Called it back end of Jan. So disappointing that they're gambling with our lives, our loved ones. A gamble that already hasn't paid off by the fact that we now know that it's spreading in the community in the UK.

Also 2 of the 12 cases announced today were in West Sussex.

We have made the wrong choice like you say. We are on a knife edge in this country now.

Some people will, those who are interested in their health, others won't, but would be good to hear your alternative solutions for spreading information........

This is getting bad now. We were going to go skiing third week of March, Italy is now out, but I'm wondering about Austria. Trouble is, Mrs Wz is now getting worried about getting caught up in all this.

Not the virus, but all the quarantine/home isolation stuff

We're currently in NZ, arriving in Auckland the same day as the first case here.

We're not too worried, and will continue to enjoy the holiday, but am wondering about getting home and being isolated indoors for a month. Mind you, it would seem pointless after two flights and a coach ride with hundreds of people. Assuming we're allowed to leave.

I share your sentiment, reality is a few airlines and travel companies would go to the wall.

And besides..... (for the Brexit thread) we have no ability to close our border to EU citizens until after the transition. Unless the EU acts to ban movement from say Italy (and it can't because all 27 would need to agree Inc the Italians who'd surely object), then there is nothing we could do unless in total defiance of EU law to stop EU passport holders from Italy, coming as much as they want. China and Iran we could, but EU we can't until Jan 1 2021.

I wonder if the 2nd referendum/confirmation ballot had managed to get there way and had set a second referendum date for this spring (as they hoped last October) if this unseen event could've tipped the scales again (obviously not on remain NSC) but nationally??
