Had to dispose of a dead pigeon yesterday. Mrs Milkins advised that she saw a three or four Magpies attack and kill it?

At the foot of the downs
pidgeons are flying vermin, go feast magpies wipe them off the face..

ALSO

while we are on the featured subject, WHY do seagulls make most noise at 6 in the f***ing morning ??

Pigeons are flying rats and exist for only one purpose, to feed sparrowhawks. f***ing hate them. And magpies are beautiful birds that are perfectly fulfilling the niche that nature has created for them.

I suggest you appreciate their beauty and the irridescent colours of their wings and worry less about f'in pigeons.

And why are they nesting above my office when I'm 25 miles inland? They keep swooping at me when I get back from lunch, and they are getting closer and braver every time. I'm ready for them though, when one dive bombs me close enough I'm gonna punch him out the sky.

Magpies and crows will feast on smaller birds, usually they will only eat the carrion (roadkill or already dead birds).
Occasionally they will attack live birds - and I saw two crows take out a young starling a few weeks ago - as said above, they are only fulfilling thier evolutionary niche.
They are taking weak and 'stupid' birds of other species out of the gene pool.

A magpie (up close) is a breathtakingly beautiful bird - much mis-understood and mis-treated down the years.
