I'm afraid that it's Britain who is slipping into irrelevance on the world stage these days. France as a member of the EU bloc retains international clout.
Now that is funny

All great nations and civilisations have their time. We are certainly no better than the French when it comes to war these days.Shame they’re useless when it comes to actual war

No,just ask the Algerians
Half of Africa for that matter
France just wouldn’t give up its colonies. In Algeria up until the 60’s the French military were carrying out the systematic torture, rape and murder of opponents, chucking adversaries out of death flights. For decades denied, now reluctantly admitted, because the victims were only “savages”. Some shocking 20th century photos of the victims with their gleeful French captors.
The BBC tonight linked this to the coming French presidential election - a move to turn the blow of the loss of the contract into a tough guy positive.
The left wing BBC?
Wokey cokey, the licence fee is a stealth tax on a hard working benefits claimant.

He's looking very well, too. That's what happens with freedom
Did you see Andrew Neil on BBC QT this week? I still like and rate him highly.
He basically intimated that he quit the TV station because it had lurched far further to the right than the project (positive TV news, a fresh approach) he’d been promised.
No fool, effectively he bailed out after a few days.
'Sunset' Neil? Mmmmmmm......yyyyy....no.

(I liked his late night programme on the 'channel about to be defunded', with Portillo and Abbott).
And what you and many others dont understand if eg your government didnt spend £40b on military they could spend it elsewhere and create work in others sectors (perhaps on things people actually need).
That was a sloppy sixths scenario, yuk - other clients at that time included Trelford, Khashoggi, MP’s and you’ll remember the little posh wnkr Colin Moynihan …. a Sports Minister who was anti football because he was a ‘wet bob’ educated at Monmouth.
