Brilliant player and have a bit of manlove for him but unless he can adjust to our style I don't think he will ever reach his full potential with us.

What's your point?

Barnes got 16 less.

Mackail-Smith = great league 1 FINISHER, there's no doubting that.

But he doesn't seem to cut it at our level - certainly not with our style of play anyway

I like you WW and your posts and not giving a shit what people say but on this occassion you're wrong.

Murray would have struggled this year in our one up top formation (as he is at Palace) just as much as CMS supposedly is.

CMS has played up top for us most of the season, we are 4th - this to my simple brain suggests it's been a success

What am I wrong about though?

Wasted half our season dicking about with Billy Sodding Paynter up front in an attempt to find a target man, and CMS isn't even guaranteed a start anymore due to his failings to fit in.

You can't say it wasn't bad business with regards to centre forwards in the summer, however nice it might be to have a player prepared to run their arse off for 90 minutes.

He will still get 15 this season which is a decent haul as a lone striker , 1 more than Zamora got in this division. I for one will be gutted if he is not with us next season. Top player, Top bloke.

hope you're right, but 9 goals in 39 starts would suggest he's not going to manage that even if we get to the play-off final.

I like CMS, love his energy, but spunking £2.5 million on a player who doesn't fit into your team, and letting a player go to your arch rivals on a free for the sake of a couple of grand a week is SHOCKING business.

I thought the issue with Muzza was that he was going to receive a substantial signing on fee by going elsewhere ?

CMS brings something different to the team even if he is not being used to best effect. His work rate is amazing and he causes the opposition to assign a player just to keep tabs on him.

I think in that all things considered Barnes is a better player without Murray and his sulks.

Gus was lulling us into a false sense of security at the start of the season..it was Ash he intended to build a team around NOT CMS!!!!

Anyway for what it's worth. CMS is having a great season considering he is playing in a strikers role he has never played before.

Zamora spent over a third of that season in the Championship injured, so you cannot compare the goal tallies. Two years ago CMS got 11 goals with Posh. It has already been pointed out that Championship defenders are quicker and play better than League 1 standard.
