macbook pro charging prob

our macbook pro has been playing up and has only been turning on with the battery fully charged, but has now died. i've tried recharging (obviously) and have also tried removing the battery and running on mains, but to no avail.

anyone have any experience of dealing with this? the mac forum is less than helpful.

Could be the battery has just died, they do.

My Macbook battery just gave up after about 2 years. Was working fine, had lost some charge from new, as is expected, but was still powering my machine for 2.5 hours or so. Then, it stopped providing any charge at all, with no warning.

As the battery had been through several hundred power cycles, Apple didn't want to know although it was clearly a fault. If it had gradually given less and less charge then I'd have accepted it, but it went from 2.5 hours to nothing. I fully suspect the battery was holding charge however, just the clever stuff that Apple do with batteries meant that for some reason, the Macbook was unable to see that charge.

I picked up another battery from eBay and away we went again.

However, your issue might be slightly different since it sounds as though you can't run from mains. I could run from mains with mine when the battery failed.
