Ridiculous comparison. We sold out at Cardiff didn't we? And why compare them to us - did anyone say anything about compared to us? We'd take 40k to Wembley no problems.

I was commenting on the fact people see them as a crappy little club.

When they are getting more paying customers than us when they were a) bottom of the football league and then b) in the conference I think it says allot about the ego of certain Brighton fans, either that or we're a crappy little club as well?

And no we didn't sell out at Cardiff.

I'm sure they would. And if they did object, I'd just point them in the direction of attendance figures for the two clubs over the past 40 years or so. Not forgetting the gates they were getting when they were last in the top flight - just over 6,000 once or twice, in fact. MASSIVE club.

I wasn't suggesting for a second they are a big club. You've got to give them a bit of respect (if only a little bit) though for consistently pulling bigger crowds than allot of sides in the bottom two divisions ourselves included.

Their gates are about 200 more than ours, but we play at Withdean, the worst place in the world to watch a game, high prices and no pay on the gate.

Even at a ramshackle Goldstone, we'd be getting 10-12,000 now I suspect.

Exactly.

Withdean to almost any 'normal' stadium = fairly inconparable.

Brighton to Cardiff / Luton to London = VERY inconparable

I agree tho Arth that they're not THAT little compared to your Dagenhams etc history wise. Again this all comes down to how you perceive a 'Big Club' - is it history / gates / standard of football etc etc etc

Fair enough, personally I think that's a little high. Seem to recall before all crap kicked off we were getting average gates of about 7 or 8k. Might get a few more than that at the moment given our league position and people getting excited about Falmer.

I think we'll be lucky to average out at 12k at Falmer after the honeymoon period ends.

We're still a "bigger" club than you are.
Eh? How did you work that out? Our gates are very similar, but we are two divisions above you and about to move into a nice new 23,000 all seater.

And without cherrypicking any particular decade, our support has always absolutely shat on yours.

Years in the top flight?

Luton 16
Brighton 4

Major trophies

Luton 1
Brighton 0

Attendance

We get more people than you despite being 2 divisions below you and we play in probably a worse stadium than the Withdean.

Overall the attendances seem to be about the same

Come off it.
It's a bit of a dive but it's a football stadium, it has a roof, four stands (well technically that weird windowed one is still a stand) that are next to the pitch. How far is the nearest ok pub from Kenilworth Road?

How much do you charge for tickets?

I bet we'll have more than you this weekend anyway.
