The Advertising Standards Authority has upheld a complaint against a car wash firm in Luton which posted flyers into locals letter boxes offering their services.

The flyer featured "large-breasted woman covered in soap suds and holding a hose".

Services offered

"The best hand job in town!

"IN 'N' OUT and a polish off"

"The Quickie"

"The Full Monty"

They've just interviewed the owner on LBC. (Very funny man) claimed that the any sexual references were in the minds of those who complained.

i HATE THIS KIND OF ADVERTISING. Its not even clever. Any moron can think it up. I am glad it got banned. I would have jailed him.

Actually no. If you read business press you would know that since this campaign the company have been saddled with a certain reputation (chavs, slappers, west ham fans) and cant get rid of it. Their share prive and sales figures continue to fall..... :salute:

Ah! Now of this, I know some history! Because about 3 years ago I was doing some consultancy work for Luton Borough Council, and the people who run "Scrubbers" were attempting to persuade the council that they were capable of adequately providing the huge number of contracts to operate social services transport services that they'd just won. I had my doubts about HOW they'd managed to win all these contracts (a cartel it turns out although I didn't enough vital evidence to take this further) and I certainly had my doubts about their ability to do the job properly because they were a classically shambolic transport outfit who hadn't, at the time, even got enough operators' licences to run the number of vehicles needed.

But it was the inspection visits that provided the greatest evidence or their incompetence as well as the most hilarious moments since they'd just decided to add the car washing side to their business. And the first time our inspector called, he was a tad surprised to see the space that would be needed to garage all these extra social services transport buses occupied, instead, by HUGE cardboard cut-outs of said "large-breasted woman covered in soap suds and holding a hose". On asking whether the service was going to "live up to its promise", he was met by some bafflement.

On his next visit, accompanied by some of the more po-faced folks from Social Services, there had been a feeble attempt to conceal all this advertising material in the hopes of persuading the council that this was a garage rather than a blow-up woman store. Which might have worked if one of the cardboard cut-outs hadn't broken free and nearly brained one of the social services people...:lolol:

But trust me, these buffoons make the Trotter Empire look like a sophisticated global enterprise in comparison.

PS. And I didn't give 'em the contracts!!

Armani=class
Calvin=chav
Ralph Lauren=chav

Paul Smith is far more original English and stylin' than all of them.
