I would have though a loan of 50k to secure our status in this League would have been a risk worthwhile.

Plua as soon as we get The Falmer go ahead all these people are waiting in the wings to put money in the Club,so 50k is going to be small change in comparison!

I give up:nono:

well look at it this way:

Dick Knight says to Bank Manager:
"We dont have a pot to piss in but can we have a loan?"

Bank Manager to Dick Knight:
"How do you propose to pay it back?"

Dick Knight says to Bank Manager:
"Well we get 75p per bag of rubbish for recycling from home matches, will that do?"

Bank Manager to Dick Knight:
"yeah thats fine, have a £100 loan and pay it back over the course of 5 years with an interest rate of 8.9%!"

:shootself

Besides, what IF we got a loan for him, he signed and gets injured for 12months straight away, would that be worthwhile? would he really save use from relegation? Would he even of wanted to come here in the first place?

look at the wider picture and your questions are answered!

We have no assests to take out a loan against. Its not as if we own Withdean with which could raise money against its potential value. Lets just hope we get a good away draw against a premiership team in the FA cup so we can get 25% of the gate receipts otherwise it could get pretty grim as the season progresses.

As far as I can see, financially there is virtually no benefit at all from being in this division compared to League One.

Okay, maybe we sell a few more shirts, but that must be more than offset by the increased costs for away fan policing, bigger bonuses, better wages etc.

With a fixed gate revenue pretty much regardless of division, we are screwed. I wish we could find money for a front man, but I can see why the board don't want to.

And the point of being in football is?... making money!... don't be silly...

It isn't 50k, it is 75k - unless we signed him and didn't played him.

And I bet he's on good money too, and a long contract.

Get Real!

That could happen to any player we sign.

It seems people want us to get stuffed every week and lose all our better players at the end of the season when we get relegated.Contracts or no contracts as by the time we get The Falmer decision we may be down among the deadmen!

If you were a player where would you rather be next year, playing at West Ham/Sunderland or Colchester/Hartlepool???

I know where I would rather watch the Albion

Not sure Beckett's a particularly proven player at our level, and he's had a couple of long-term injuries. Peter Taylor certainly has enough strikers now, surely he could lend us one.
