Yep, that would do nicely...but one does fear with the lack of decent freebies around and no doubt clubs pricing strikers way above what they are worth, that every club in league 1 and championship would be interested.

Mr Pardew, another striker maybe!

not a 25 goal a season striker though...

What makes you say that?

He scored 36 in 2 seasons at leeds. I know that doesnt work out at 25 per season, but a very good striker who's adapted well to the league, I'd be confident with that scoring record and certainly has to be the best freebie realistic option available.

Would be pretty pricey wage wise but the Argie connection and a manager and his assistant speaking his native tongue would help.

Bechio, Murray and Barnes all capable of getting 15 goals + each, would be a great top 3, as it appears we are being priced out of 25 goal strikers which is fair enough. Get on the phone Gus!
Leeds were linked with Murray a couple of times, wouldnt be suprised if they were to want a swap deal.

Alas, I think he'll get an offer from a Championship club.

I said it because he has never scored 25 goals in a season in England :dunce:

I didnt say he is not any good, as he is clearly a good player at this level. Has a similar goal scoring ratio to Murray and I would be very happy if he came to Brighton

We don't need one ... see all the math on the thread about Glenn Murray. We need someone getting 15 a season when they come off the bench or get starts when the other strikers are out of form/suspended/injured.

And of course if we sign a cracking striker who is a 20 a year man, then Barnes becomes that player.

All about opinions I suppose.

Mine is I think he could score 25 goals as he's shown a good scoring pedegree in league one for 2 years.

The Championship.
Leeds United have moved quickly to deny reports that striker Luciano Becchio will not be offered a new contract.

Reports on Wednesday morning intimated Leeds were not prepared to extend the popular 26-year-old's Elland Road deal.

The Argentine hit-man has just 12 months left on his Whites contract and it had been thought the club would be willing to let him leave next summer.

However, chief executive Shaun Harvey insists there is nothing in the reports and that Leeds remain committed to retaining Becchio.

The Boca Juniors youth product has scored 36 goals in two seasons since arriving from Spanish club Merida and is a firm fans' favourite.

"The story's completely untrue," Harvey told the Yorkshire Evening Post. "We're committed to trying to keep him at the club."
