Exactly , my only concern is that now other clubs know that they can beat us by kicking lumps out of us on the pitch.

That would really depend on whether we keep playing the passing game or not.

We really are turning into Arsenal fans aren't we. I think Brighton are the team who had a player sent off but it was Hartlepool who played too rough? If that's all it takes to ruffle our feathers then we really will struggle to stay top

Jacob Mellis of Chelsea or Kayleden Brown of WBA could both do a good job for us on loan if required and allowed to come down by Ancellotti or Di Matteo.

I didnt think Hartlepool were that rough, they were late on a couple of challenges, but nothing dirty. We've played against more physical teams. We were going into tackles half heartedly, comoing off second best nearly every time.

The ref made the right decision not stopping play for LuaLua's injury in my opinion

What this type of injury will do is persuade players that they must go down holding their head so the ref will stop the game and then decide they are just holding their head because of the pain in their foot.

Depends on which bone is fractured.

Spot on, and what type it is.

I got a spiral fracture of my fib and a dislocated ankle in the same tackle. Plastered for 6 weeks.
But then there's the route back to fitness after that.

One thing is certain though, we will miss him.

Get back soon KLL and if we don't see you back in the stripes next year, thanks for some great goals.

I see the retards are out in force again.

:lolol:

weren't we just as buggered when navs got injured and Gus did the business then so let's not get too melodramatic just yet, plus you would hope that our league position alone makes us more attractive to certain types of player. Besides it's not official yet is it.

To be fair I did feel almost, if not quite, as gutted when Navs got injured. Let's just hope LuaLua's injury has the same level of impact. There is no doubt that this is a huge blow, though, and Kaz will be sorely missed.

Sorry guys

Unfortunately my source was spot on. Another contact at the club has confirmed. Looks like a cracked bone rather than a major break, therefor backs up original report. Have been quoted approx 10 weeks again. To be announced officially in the morning

I think Gus should put in an audacious bid for Hartlepool's Number 15 (was it McSweeney or Sweeney, I lost track?). He was the first player I have seen this season to seriously stretch Painter, though of course that may have been because the midfield was so tight in the middle that Marcos and Calde were having to go forward all the time. As soon as he got the ball I was worried. And we clearly do need width. Playing Bennett in the middle does not work.

Hartlepool went for him just as soon as they saw how foolish he made their defenders look just minutes (seconds?) after he came on.

As soon as that started I began to doubt he'd finish the match uninjured.

Ref can't have failed to notice the warning signs, but chickened out of the correct decision when the final crunch came.

Several times in the game the ref was *too* near the action, and so inevitably distracted by trying to keep out of the action - which seems to have been the case in this incident.

Also shows up the downside of our current style of play. Opponents get frustrated and made to look inept as we keep the ball for long intricate sequences of passes, and so they end up clattering the player they can get to, instead of playing the ball that they can't.

It's obviously a big blow but there's plenty of options still available and wins against Woking and Bristol Rovers would give the team a psychological boost without Kaz.

I think we all feared that something like this was going to happen to Kaz....none more so than Gus. He has clearly been wrapping him up in cotton wool lately and trying to protect him.
Clubs in this division now know about him and he was going to get ' taken out ' sooner rather than later.
If he comes to us permanently, it is something we have got to get used to. i.e he will get clattered regularly and will be out injured a lot.
It is the risk you take with any player but even more with an exciting match-winner like Kaz.
