Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Many years ago a mate of mine was entrusted with looking after the cash receipts from the 1983 Cup Final. He carefully wrapped the notes inside a giant Albion flag. All three have now sadly disappeared.
All buried under the centre spot at Withdean.

Excellent thread. I lent a kid at Mary Mags my Nobo 'Tesco Bag' replica kit when I was 9 or 10 and I never got the ****er back. I would kill for my daughter to be wearing that same kit now but that will never happen.

Quite the opposite. I seem to regularly misplace my Albion toque. Had it for years (Skint era) and despite leaving it on public transport, on top of the car, at one night stands, at pubs, and on snow banks It still finds its way back to me.

An update to this, we are currently in the process of moving to a new city around 1500km away. We rented a van last weekend and did a round trip to drop off furniture stuff at the new place. We will be making our 'final' trip there on Sunday.

Anyway, since getting back on Monday this week I had not been able to find my hat. After making breakfast this morning I went back to the bedroom to get changed, and the hat was lying on the pillow. It wasn't there when I got up, and my girlfriend left for work before I even woke up, so she wouldn't have been messing with me. It really is the hat (toque, for Juan) that has a life of its own, and always finds its way back to me!

I brought back a piece of the penalty area from St. James' Park from that promotion game. I carefully nurtured it and planted it in my parents back lawn, where it flourished for years, until they paved over it...!

Well it was bound to flourish down here in our balmy southern climate, it's a special hardy variety of grass they have to grow up in Newcastle to cope with the harsh northern conditions.

I just hope their current day footie team don't also flourish at the Amex tomorrow night!

I’m certain someone’s now swiped my circa 93 Albion cap, of no value other than highly sentimental and proof that just because you can people will steal anything no matter how sweat stained and tatty / worthless it is.

It joins my brothers promoted 79 scarf (also nicked) and 1st edition build a bonfire which I left on a train years ago when pissed out my head. Fortunately they did a 2nd print years later.

I’m genuinely upset. 27 years is a long time and it’s Obviously irreplaceable. What similar misfortune have you had With treasured Albion items?

Blimey forgotten about this thread...but there was a happy ending, my cap reappeared and the world for a brief moment was alright again!

Not Albion stuff, but I had a programme from the Rangers v Celtic Ibrox disaster game signed by the Celtic team that family friend had got me. He knew a couple of the Celtic players.

It disappeared during a house move, I always wondered how much it would be worth.
