Lost me. I'm a bit down now, I don't do gambling but have got hooked up on these slots. I need to stop.

Think about what is important to you in life, friends, family, the Albion, your house, your prized possessions. Think of what life would be like without them, as that is what these slots will do to you. It's not easy, but there are some ex-gamblers here on NSC and they will help.

If you've lost online contact their customer service dept and exclude yourself also close down ALL accounts. If your trouble is the bookies then the MOSES ( Multi Operator Self Exclsion Scheme ) phone number is 0800 294 2060 and go through their process and exclude from all the shops that you are near too. Moses allows to exclude from more than one company at a time. Good luck.

I have not said you have a problem but you've highlighted that you've done something that you had not done before. It may be that you have learned your lesson the hard way and will not do it again. The contact details are there if you want to take the temptation away for the future as you may want to 'Chase' your losses, which is a terrible idea.

Bit of an over reaction. The chaps already confessed his problem. Says it's a one off and he's disappointed with himself.
This is hardly in keeping with a hopeless addict gambler.

Good advice from Frankie, and Gamcare (http://www.gamcare.org.uk/) is another to bear in mind.
It is a really positive first step to admit to yourself, and others, that you have a problem, and as you will hopefully discover, there are many thousands of people who have done the same, with positive results.
And no, they don't pay back. Slots - I'm guessing it's a betting shop FOBT if you've gone through that much - are unbeatable. They follow the same sort of basic maths that explains why things fall down and not up, and the more you "play", the more certain it is that you will lose. The money you lost today is gone, all you can do is accept it, move on and ensure that not one more penny of your cash follows it into one of those machines.

It might be a one-off but I suspect, as you've posted about it, you're a bit worried about what happened and why it happened.

It was slots and as I have already said, I don't live and breath for them. I just went a bit mad today and am very disappointed with myself. However the advice given could help others. Me, personally, never again.

I have a very addictive nature, but fortunately I can also switch off. I was an addictive smoker and drinker, I have given up the smoking, but I love drinking too much to give it up. I won't go back near gambling ever again. But the links here could be useful to other people.

FOBTs are addictive by design, not least because you can spin every 20 seconds. The hit of a win is followed by an immediate chance to chase a loss. Spend any time at all in a modern "betting" shop and you will see people standing in front of FOBTs in what is essentially a hypnotic trance, burning through everything they have. It's only when the last pound has gone that they snap out of it and realise what they've done (again). The machines are toxic.

A little tip Sir - Try and remember how you feel now as opposed to the rush of adrenalin leading up to starting to play them. If you can remember this feeling every time you get the urge to try again, it might just work.

Good to hear. I've been in the gaming industry over 20 years and it can be soul destroying seeing people going down the slippery slope to addiction. My advice is genuine, as from your opening post it seemed a little for a 'cry to help' but as you've said
you have learned your lesson and best wishes for the future. As for an 'Over reaction' as stated by [MENTION=15277]kingcole[/MENTION], I believe any advice other people gave was genuine and they were only looking out for you.
