It's shit for everyone but today's been an emotionally draining one for me. Had a blood test early this morning and then was given a thorough examination externally this afternoon for a tender lump I've been worried about near my spine since Christmas. I was given the best and kindest treatment possible at Northlands Wood at a time when the NHS is at bursting point. I hope to find out my results possibly by Friday. I stayed strong although it's all caught up with me now. I was told not to worry as it felt benign and almost certainly a cyst.

So I do feel for a random pub landlord but general serious health problems have had to be put on hold. I'm gutted for patients waiting for delayed chemotherapy, radiotherapy and other urgent treatment. God, I could cry my eyes out for them.

If furlough payments end at the end of April it would sound about right for many businesses to start trying to get going in May.

May sounds about right to me. Why would most businesses not take advantage of financial support until then if offered?

I mean.. "sounds about right"... who knows really? No one. If there's just three deaths per day in early March, surely the pubs will open in late March. Conversely, if there is 10 000 deaths a day in May, surely the pubs wont open in May.

No one (most likely) know the future timeline of this, there may be negative or positive surprises along the road.

It depends on the age profile of his customers, us 65 + ers will be the target for most pubs by the end of Feb or Mar................he says hopefully

Just think of all those wealthy pensioners, having rented out their 'I have been jabbed' cards to the under 65's (or whatever age it is by the time the pubs eventually re-open).

We're planning for opening at the end of March beginning of April at moment. We'll be open before May.

Sorry for your position it cant be easy , i`m no expert but to be told not to worry because it feels benign is extremely rare . If you have been told it feels benign , that is almost a guarantee . They never stick their necks out with such things .

I refer you to my P.S. of the post. To elaborate further and to try and answer some of your queries (interrogation?). The pub is a managed house owned by Wadworths, has a restaurant, is in Southern England, the landlord/manager owns two French Bulldogs, I drink Guinness and 6X and other guest ales there, they observed all the rules and regulations scrupulously when when we were in Tier 1 and 2. Any questions regarding the brewery’s stance in this pandemic he has passed on to customers. I’m afraid don’t know his star sign. Anything else? Oh, by the way, it wasn’t his opinion he gave it happened to be information that he’d been given by his brewery. As you well know in these troubling times that info. could change in a heartbeat.

Um, you were looking for encouragement. Just trying to indicate one random statement from a publican doesn’t mean we’re out of the pubs until May.

Pretty sure all release from lockdown will be using the tier system on a regional basis.....v regular reviews and providing circumstances allow, dropping back through the tiers on a gradual basis (with regional differences continuing).

Completely depends on how quickly cases and hospitalisations go down.

So, no one knows when it’s going to be. Not even the people making the decisions.

I’d reckon best case scenario, some pubs open on Tier 3 basis in certain parts of the country by mid-late March. Worst case, late May/early June.
