London road is a shit hole! (The bit with shops on)

And it has been know for quite some time. The place is enough to make you sick in your corn flakes.

It smells of the pungent odor of repugnant alcoholics and the place just makes you even more depressed about the recession than ever before! It is like they built all the shops to be accustomed to what mood the economy is in for instance when you can afford to spend a fiver on Liberty X greatest hits Woolworths is there but when "The going gets tough" (the tough gets going... I f***ing love that song!) they replace it with a shop that would fit right into the streets of beaten down India. Has anyone been in that carpet shop out of interest? I went in there and there wasn't even a til there was just two Indian blokes on the floor collecting your money.

One way to get Swine flu out of Brighton? Eureka!!! Put a bomb under London road. We may spread the disease or if the worst comes to the worst kill some tramps and destroy Safeway limiting my consumption of their own brand Jelly animals. (Jelly animals or swine flu?)

I just need to stay away from the place otherwise I will kick that guy that sites by the pub near the electrics shop (where I purchased a posh TV) who is quite clearly a lunatic alcoholic and plays music through some kind of windy up music thingy. (oh and if I see another member of the Kooks on that road or for that matter in Brighton I will shove there vocal so far down their throat that they will have to sing out of their ass)

Rant over.

I like the Thai supermarket and Principal Meats. And Bangkok Express is one of the best places to eat in Brighton

I thought the same. London Road in being a Bit of a Dump Shocker.

Instead of doing it up, why not just divert people round it after they get past the pretty church and do it more damage. Genius.

Luckily the road planners were good enough to make the one way system work so this wasnt the first place you drove through on your way to Brighton from the A23

Hate it, and it always has loads of head mentals set to ruin your day, and of course there is the worst pub in the world. The Branch Tavern.

Only good bit is the entrance to the open market, KFC, Richer Sounds and Maplins

I've been to many places in the world, but have never seen as many weirdos in one place than walking down London Road, Brighton

Back in the day both London Road and the OLD Churchill Square were both THE places to go and shop...

No it was always good for a drink London Road if you had the stomach. You will never see the like of The Northern again in central Brighton.

Plenty of pubs like the Rose Hill within a syringes throw of London Road that are class.

PLenty of good pubs, but Branch is the worst. Rose, Circus Circus, Engineer all good. Cobblers Thumb isnt that bad. Nor is the tiny one round behind The Old Sainsburys which I cant remember the name of

That is kind of what I am getting at. It is apart from town one of the main places where people can do some shopping. It is a bit of a disgrace that one of the main and most "obvious" roads in Brighton is such a Dung Heep.

It needs a vigilante group to go wandering down there and kicking in every alchy ne'er-do-well filthy scumbag until they piss off back to the Whitgift Centre

Agree with most of that, the entire area needs redeveloping and has done for years, but nothing seems to be happening. Wasnt there a big redevelopment planned? what happened. The area has nothing to attract most people, the shops on offer are those that nobody really uses, apart from like others have said maplins, richer sounds and possibly blockbuster for a dvd. It seems to have the shittest selection of shops that can be found on western road but just more condensed and in a dirty, polluted area. I think what it needs is something a bit different, take away the numerous poundlands and other shite and put in something that will attract people, and something that will improve the visual aspect.
Oh and Murraymints, ive been in the new carpet store where woolworths is, and found it quite intimidating:lol:. Not sure where the stuff comes from, back of a lorry i guess.
