London Road, Brighton train station on match days

I've been told by several Albion fans that on match afternoons, either:
- this station (east bound) will be closed, or
- east bound trains won't stop there.
to prevent fans boarding already packed trains,

But I can't find this via google, nationalrailenquiries timetable, etc.

Anyone know if this is true?

It may be that the extra trains they put into the matchday timetable will run non-stop between Brighton and Falmer.

i think ive read something similar. makes sence for the trains half an hour or so before game as you wont be able to get on.

You can understand why they wouldn't want to stop packed trains from Brighton at LR but if they could pause on the way back I would personally be very grateful.

I'll be interested to see what they do when there's around 5,000 people trying to get on a 500 capacity train 1/2 hour before kick off. I can see the Leeds game being fun in this respect.

But surely the regularly scheduled trains (i.e. those not being put on additionally to cope with demand) have a duty to stop there, as per the timetables. There may well be travellers who aren't going to and from the football who have reason to join or depart from a train at London Road

I think that's what's been said above, with the extra services non-stop. However, that doesn't mean there will be any space to get on!

I would guess at no more than 10 minutes, if the train arrives in Brighton on time.

After the match (and a pie and pint) on Saturday I got the train from Falmer back to Brighton and when we arrived there were a lot of people waiting to get on the train, which suggests it was going to be heading back pretty quickly.

1) The club has yet to publish anything useful about match day train timetables and capacity (either nominal or actual/available).
2) The club has published nothing about the travel survey information it belatedly commissioned/collected during the Amex ST presentations early this year. These data indicate that 6,000-7,000 attendees intended to travel to the Amex by train, more than double the number quoted in the planning application(s) and on which approval was granted. This figure makes no allowance for potentially 2,000+ away fans using the trains, and neither do the figures for bus and P&R use (see point 5 below).
3) B&HCC requested that the club submit the finalised transport management plan for consideration and approval at least six months prior to it was intended to be brought into use.
4) Martin Perry admitted at a B&HCC Planning Committee meeting considering the Racecourse P&R two weeks ago that this had still not been done! The reason given for this and the expedited consideration or the Racecourse P&R application was that the Club hadn't realised that planning consent would be required!!! Frankly, this is so obviously a change of use that it beggers belief that ayone would even think it. He also said that a P&R at the Racecourse was part of the initial planning application (this is true) - so the club has only had 8/9 years or so (prior to June 2011) to sort it out.
5) Martin Perry was still contending at the Planning Committee meeting that away fans will all travel by coach. Even if true, this equates to 40-45 coaches, for a fully sold away allocation, in a coach park with a capacity of 60.
