Hi all,
For the past 10 years I've been volunteering at local schools on the subject of ancient Rome (specifically year 3 at Hertford Juniors). At Hertford I turn up in full Roman kit (used to do reinactment but have a degree and MA in ancient history as well), give a short talk and then work with small groups who ask questions (or want pictures taken wearing a helmet etc). It started as a one off, just Hertford Juniors, but I have additional days I can take as volunteering days so happy to see if I can help elsewhere. It's all free btw, I don't charge.
Perhaps if you know any teachers at local schools or are parents who might want to suggest this to their school then get in touch. I can also help out with ancient Greece (did this a couple of years back at a school in Steyning. I tried attaching some pics (which the school took and released to me) to show but for some reason it didn't work.
So far I've worked with Year 3s and Year 5s, but happy to help out where I can.
Anyway, let me know if this is of interest.
cheers
Neil
