Just to report that Craig Davies got near rave reviews last night for Port Vale v Burton - won the penalty for their final goal in a 3-1 win and an instant hit with fans after coming on as an early second half sub.

Jake Wright meanwihile is putting in very solid displays in the centre of Oxford United's defence.

Just suggesting that GP will be keeping an eye on his loanees in order to make a decision what to do at the end of the season - bring back in to the fold or get rid?
In a perfect world they will do well and attract cash bids so that we cover our losses if we let them go; or alternatively that they do well and we decide to keep them as an asset. It's not in anyone's interest for them to fail.

On a slightly different note (but not worth starting a new thread), I see Matt Thornhill has joined Cheltenham on loan. He has dropped out of favour really quickly having been touted as a great signing for us in pre season. Must say I was never that impressed but he has gone from playing in the Championship last season to moving to a struggling League two side.

Aaron Davies has been released by Forest too

I think Barney will be offered a deal by MA pre season and join Livermore and McLeod up at Port Vale.

Davies: Out to enjoy loan

Craig Davies says he is happy to take in a loan at Port Vale, but is not currently contemplating a permanent move away from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 24-year-old striker joined the League Two outfit on a month-long loan from Brighton earlier this month, but insists he is not seeking a permanent move away from the Seagulls.

"Brighton just want me to go out and play games and we will see what happens from there," he told the club's official website.

"I have got 18 months left on my contract and that is still a long time - anything can happen.

"As long as I keep on working hard and my attitude is positive and I can show people that I am willing, that can only be good for me.

"There are certain things I am not that happy about with regards to my football, but at the same time, I am quite fit anyway.

"I just need to get that cutting edge fitness that will help me and my game. Over the next two games, that will come."

Edited highlights of the report in the League Paper:

On-loan Brighton striker Craig Davies failed to break his mammoth goal drought in Port Vale's goalless draw with Macclesfield- but boss Micky Adams is still backing the hitman to fill his boots in League Two.

The 24 year old Welsh international- who was making his first start after joining on an initial one month loan- has failed to find the net since scoring against Peterborough for the Seagulls in February 2009.

Davies was foiled early on by Macclesfield stopper Jon Brain at Vale Park before firing over from close range before the break and rattling the crossbar on 58 minutes.

"Craig had three or four shots that on another day would have gone in" said Adams. "He hit the bar in the second half and I think there are much better things to come from him this season"

...Davies worked himself free two minutes later and unleashed a shot but Brain was up to the challenge. In the 12th minute Marc Richards' effort was parried out by the former Vale keeper but on-loan Brighton striker Davies somehow flashed the rebound over the bar....the best moment belonged to the unfortunate Davies in his first start for the club. He cut inside Nat Brown with marvellous piece of trickery and fired a shot from the left that struck the crossbar.

They give him a 9/10, which is a bit odd for a striker who's missed three chances, but good luck to the bloke.

I like Davies attitude and in most of the last few years he would have got a decent run here, he's unfortunate that we have experienced quality in Forster and Murray and a good back up in Dickinson. It's a long long time since the Albion had this much quality up front. Davies has been in the right place at the wrong time whilst he's been here. I reckon he'll have to do something special at Vale to get a look in down here now but I still think he's gonna do a good job for a League 1 team in the future.

In The Championship on BBC 1, they said it was almost a one man war by Davies in Saturdays game.

The goals will come.
