Agreed Im sure there are some vids on Youtube on these protesters. Im all in favour of the right to protest. But from what i have read it just sounds like just an exuse to riot.

Just been down to the Level, where there seemed to be more police than protesters. The police seemed more interested in playing with their 'nee-naws' than doing much else, which scared my dog and therefore gave me the hump.

However, I know someone who works for EDO, and the information given out on the SmashEdo site is pure lies. It has nothing to do with what they do in Brighton. But don't let the facts stand in the way of opinions. Perhaps you should do some research first on what they do; look on their web-site.

Also, if you don't want a defence company; the logic for that is you don't want an army, navy, air-force or the ability to defend ourselves. No doubt the answer will be 'That's right, I want to get rid of all arms in the world'.

If you can accept that that isn't going to happen (no, really, it's not), then we would not be able to defnd ourselves, or be an active memeber of NATO, etc, nor carry out intervention if required.

EDO dont actually build anything that kills people though - they make the clips that missiles are hung on and other electronic jamming equipment that protects our troops?

As mentioned earlier does this mean that people who clean the toilets at the factory are legitimate targets for the protestors to threaten, assault and intimidate or those that provide the sandwich run? I mean where do you actually draw the line?

Spot on. I find I'm quite irrationally angry about this. This is partly because my wife has come home upset and stressed because her patients have suffered but also because the people doing this are fascist tossers.

As you say where do you draw the line? And if you want to get all sanctimonious about people dealing in death and misery then what about people who work in the tobacco industry? Or the drinks industry? Nicotine and alcohol are responsible for far more worldwide death and misery than a little Brighton company.

HBAB you are spot on, i walked past the demo when it was at the bottom of Elm Grove, it was kicking of near the level. 99% of protesters seemed to be Britians unwashed, hippies who were pised up, fighting amonst themselves and provoking the police. There may have been legitimate protesters there peacefully making a point but the majoroty were causing trouble.

Id love to send them the bill for the police presence, however im sure if paid it would be out beniits

As much as I love demos I've got to admit that's my take on it as well. If they do manage to get it closed down the protesters will all go back to their little middle-class enclaves and think they've done something worthwhile whilst the working people they've helped make redundant will have to pick up the pieces of their lives - no joke in these times.

And then all that will happen is the landmines or nerve gas or whatever it is they make will simply be made in another country where the working class don't allow middle class scruples to stop them from earning a living - France for example.

Well there was a MILLION people on the streets of London peacefully protesting against the imminent illegal and immoral invasion of Iraq. Had zero impact apart from causing a million Labour voters to withhold their vote while B.Liar was in No 10. Maybe if a million people had stormed Downing Street and strung B.Liar up by his ears, it might have helped save a few hundred thousand lives. Sorry, but sometimes violent protest is legitimate.

And what's this got to do with a small defence contractor in Brighton? Do you approve of the UK having armed forces?

If no, and you accept a complete disbandment of our armed forces, then your view on violent protesting against this company is valid. If you don't want to lose out defence capabilities, then the support and supply of our armed forces is a necessary requirement.
