Didn't Sunak only get the job as no one stood against him? So wasn't elected by the electorate, not elected by his peers, and not elected by the party members, he was merely the only person in the room and given the role by default?I would argue that is just another example of how shambolic the tories are. In theory, the parties pick the leader.
Hopefully she’ll lose her seat at the next GE - perhaps she knows it and is set to rise like a phoenix from the pyres of her most recent political crash and burn as a independent PoCon
Liz Truss faces VERY unusual election campaign from Turnip Taliban rival
The man who hopes to topple former prime minister Liz Truss at the next election is taking to his toes as he hits the campaign trail.www.edp24.co.uk
Just fill in the gap. The distinct shortage of expert voices (that agreed with our half baked mantra). Whatever happened to Prof Patrick Minford? But ,but, Gove said we'd had enough of experts.
Whilst everyone is bemoaning Liz Truss state of mind, what is the devious old goat actually up to? Anyone know?

Off the back of the strong showing of a local independent in Rochdale who finished second, there's a local candidate that's standing in Truss' constituency. There's a great article on her linked below. My hunch is she'll lose.View attachment 180652
That would be an impressive swing if she did lose her seat.
That said, anyone sane who's been paying attention for the last few years might think twice about voting for her again wouldn't they?
Wouldn't they?
He's up to his ears in the Middlesbrough freeport debacle. Maybe that's one of the reasons there are so many dead cats around.Biding his time before putting forward his name to become leader of the opposition.
Her book came this morning as I pre-ordered. I want to see what she says on this fully as I've only seen clips. However there is some validity in what she says that globally interest rates went up, in fact we lagged behind the states. I remember being on a call to the US some months before Truss came in and they were asking about mortgage rates and I said they were fine and he said just you wait, its happening here so it will come to you soon enough. He wasn't wrong.I caught some of her interview on the Newscast pod this morning and one thing is crystal clear, the women has bullet-proof, iron-clad confidence in a) herself and b) her believe that she is 100% blame-free for the fiasco that was her tenure as PM.
It was actually a remarkable example of a person with absolutely zero self-awareness and accountability. On interest rate rises and collapsing the mortgage market after her mini-budget, her response was basically: "My actions? MY ACTIONS? It was THEIR REACTIONS to my actions that caused the problems. You can't blame me because the markets reacted negatively to my budget"

However the way she and her lunatic of a chancellor dealt with it definitely accelerated it here which was foolish on their part. I agree with a lot of what Truss says
Apologies if I am putting words in your mouth, by trying to second guess which bits you agree with. My guess is that a low tax economy will stimulate growth? This would probably work best with a population biased towards young people of a working age. How do you build a dynamic growing economy heavy with retirees? I realise there are plenty of oldies working and contributing to the economy in many different ways, but there are also huge numbers who can't or choose not to work. Her book came this morning as I pre-ordered.
