Well someone had to do it as there is loads of debate, I have just e-mailed the club and asked is there any chance of laying on either a chartered train or chartered plane (s).

Wait and see, I'm not holding my breath but if you don't ask you don't get.

Watch this space.

Good on you. Like you say it'll probably be a no, but worth a try.

I work for a UK charter airline - cost is about £10-15k to operate an aircraft with full crew. I'm pretty sure that the approach would have to come from the club though, rather than a fan.
How many would the aircraft seat? If it was say 150 people that's only £100 per head, considering people are paying £80.00 plus for the train I think that would be value for money and save on time and aggro travelling across London.

Yeah, London Midland take a lot longer, probably better paying a bit more. The London midland trains arent comfortable for long distance unlike Virgin either.

Am I correct in thinking it takes 4.5 hours on the London Midland to get up there? As opposed to 2 hours on Virgin.

Yes, you are right.
And the last London Midland out of Liverpool on the Sundayis 18.30ish..

For that reason, I'm out I think...

ESPN in the pub for me

Depends on the aircraft, but either 180, 189 or 233.

Doesn't help that we have a lot of ski flights on Sundays, so might not have the spare aircraft. There might also be issues if the Albion already have an establish sports travel partner - like Thomas Cook Sport. If that's the case, then they are the ones who should be arranging something.

LM OR VT?

VT still showing up up NationalRail...

VT I cant get an advance single for the way back. The 19:48 appears to have sold out.
Planning to use the LM offer on the way there.

It would be a news story in itself for the club to lay on a chartered flight for its fans. They are receiving £212,000 bonus through the TV, and so could afford the deposit and to subsidise a flight. Could have local buses organised at either end for the transfers. Easily worth £100 per fan. Feel good factor, marketing / PR, more fans able to go. Got to be worth considering?

Only downside of course is the high carbon footprint this would create....

Why should they, if it can only take 150 fans, that is 2.5% of our allocation!

Yeah advances on 19:48 sold out yesterday I believe. Annoying.

I'm also planning on using LM on the way up.

£100 + plus travel to Gatwick + travel from Liverpool airport to Anfield and back again.
While I totally understand your viewpoint it would be money well spent, being self employed I really couldn't afford to stay up over night or risk missing trains. To me and I'm sure many others time is money. If you are going to pay over £80.00 by trains why not pay say £110 (ish) a fly.

Really it's up to the club to see if they would be prepared to charter a flight, let's be honest they agreed to the daft kick off time on a Sunday, surely in the knowledge that it would not be convenient for supporters.

Have to say I have always found them very good. The coaches are usually new, have a toilet and comfy seats. I think I have left things on the coach at each of the games.

Only time I've used Seagulls Travel was for the Stoke FA cup game last year, can back this up, very good condition coach, comfy seats etc. Also the stewards are all Brighton fans so makes a good trip. Won't take much longer (6/7ish hours) than the train either without all the trouble changing. And only £38, suprised more people arent using it.

Liverpool FC - FA Cup 5th Round - 19 02 12 - Away - 16 30pm Kick Off

Yeah I think I'm being drawn more towards the coach now. I know they make it clear they pick up from various locations, but I assume they also drop off to the same places?
