This is a big big lesson of what can happen to one of the biggest clubs in this country when things go wrong on the field and the money men have control of the finances.

It looks like the American owners don't have the money to plug the debt either so this will go on and on. Is anyone going to stump up 473million to save Liverpool?, would you.

Liverpool won't suffer. It's a huge global soccerball brand and someone will step in and buy it. Short term they'll be OK. Long term? You've got to wonder about these clubs with their megadebts.

Apparently the yanks are now going to sell the club.........to another American consortium linked to the Boston Red Sox, their problems are over :lolol:

But apparently the supporters don't want any more Americans involved, bad luck again!!
I don't think the Americans really get it either do they. I don't think the premiership provides the same type of returns that American Football or Baseball does, but they seem to get sold this illusion that Liverpool will win the Champions League and the Premier League. With the likes of Man City and Chelsea around how the hell can they win anything?

This was always going to end in tears. Too much reliance on the golden goose that is champions league football.

Where did you get this figure of £473m? A Liverpool supporting mate of mine would like to know

Is the right answer. My guess is someone from the far east, China or Middle east will buy the club for a hobby.

£300m is what Hicks and Gillett have been offered by New England Sports Ventures, but they want more like £600m.

NESV have said they would clear 'most of' the clubs existing debts too, and provide investment funding for the new stadium.

The debts to RBS total £282m including interest and fees. Other debts are estimated to bring this total to £350m.

Figures from article on the back page of The Times today.

It gets on my tits that anybody (yanks or otherwise) is able to "buy" a club by simply borrowing the money, then do f*** all in the way of investment or improving performance then expect an absolutely massive profit on the deal when fans decide they're taking the piss.

Why the big anti Liverpool feeling on here? I'm no fan of Liverpool but I have respect for them. They are one of the few teams to have won titles over the years without the arrogance and lack of dignity that Man U, Arsenal and Chelsea have doen over the years.
Its a proper football club that still has its roots in the area with passionate fans that like football to be played the right way and try and uphold the traditional values of the game. I can't see why anyone would want them to get shafted buy greedy american investers, we as well as anyone know what its like when your club gets taken over and you feel helpless to do anything. I for one think they should be applauded for not excepting the current ownership and forcing them out.
