[Football] Liverpool fans pushing locals into a fountain

They do on this board. It's strange as a comment a few posts up claims there are lots of secret reds here. One could claim that those who keep posting, week after week, about their dislike of Liverpool and its people, are secret Man U or Chelsea. There seems to be around a thread a week having a go at Scousers lately. What next? West Indians, Pakistani people, Jews?

You are a Liverpool fan aren't you?

This is a football forum. Liverpool fans are in Barcelona to watch their team tonight. So twist it how you like but this thread is about the behaviour of Liverpool football fans in Barcelona.

I’m fed up with the media love in with Liverpool, the only team where the world has to fall silent when YNWA is played before a televised match. Any other club and coverage gets switched to the adverts. No not Liverpool because they invented football support and they lead the way. Same about humour with “everything they say is hilarious”.

Get real. Liverpool fans are trouble whether it be raiding shops (pre planned) in Paris and other European cities, attacking City’s team coach, fighting on the terraces of Heysel, and picking your pocket!

This doesn’t make other fans immune

One fan pushed one person into a fountain, not hundreds. It is hyperbole that I object to.

To be honest I tend to agree with PS. I'm surprised you don't actually. I'm sure you've been to many places with England where there has been one or two berks acting up yet the whole support gets tarred with the same brush. I know I have.

Trouble is everyone has a camera these days and social media makes it very easy to share pretty much in real time. Doesn't take much for the media to pick up on these things and before you know it its the top story on the news because it sell papers.

I can see your point and I agree. However from personal experience we tend to stay out of the way of the places where the dickheads congregate so not to be associated. So when stuff like this comes out and everyone gets tarnished it is annoying, but really it says more about all the people stood around cheering it on which is almost as bad as doing it.

'They' are the ones that deserve to be tarred with the same brush not all Scousers / England fans or whatever

And I agree re: cameras which is why we tend to steer clear of large areas where groups gather, last thing you want is to end up all over social media and having to go into work 2 days later...

It is accusing a whole city of acting a certain way because of where they live, so it is a very mild version of racism. My Yorkshire husband has had it at his workplace to a mild extent (not banter either) and I experienced it when I worked up there. It isn't pleasant and you just have to grin and bear it.

I have met and worked with lovely people from Liverpool (and other places) and met some real arses too. Everywhere is the same.

Pretty much this. A few Liverpool are dickheads *Shocker*

Here is the video of all of them. Well, a very few, well, maybe two. Liverpool fans are evil.

Have a look at the video anyway. After you have seen our sponsors.

No.

And prior to the Liverpool game at the Amex I'd have been happy for them to win the title. But their gamesmanship and cheating and then Robertson shouting at us in the family stand to **** off changed my mind.

It's not all of them, just a few pissed up attention seeking simpletons. Unfortunately (for them) any trouble caused by this particular club will always be highlighted because of past incidents.

Fortunately, I'm now of an age I no longer see the sights of West Street at chucking up, I mean out, time. But I remember it well. Yes you are right of course, alcohol does play a big part of it, but not exclusively. Certainly not when it comes to abusive and obscene behaviour in grounds. Cast your mind back to the abuse those Chelsea fans were dishing out to Sterling earlier this season. They weren't all drunk, possibly none of them. But something happens to peoples brains when in a football ground, or in a football crowd.

That is true. Maybe the point is that people are idiots and when they are with lots of other idiots, or have been drinking, they become even bigger idiots! :dunce:

Bizarre comment to make in circumstances. Someone gets wet in a fountain and I don’t think it’s especially newsworthy. That’s something to judge me by?! Wow - It’s now not just the story that’s hyperbole but the readers have gone potty too seemingly.

The way I see this is that Liverpool are one of those clubs with some really bad fans. Leeds, West Ham, Cardiff and Chelsea are the same. I’m not minded to say it’s scousers as I don’t remember too many problems with Everton fans.

Now clearly any club has got undesirable people who associate themselves with it. We’ve had to ban a few this season, but the difference between clubs with a good reputation for support and those with a bad reputation for support is the number of ordinary fans willing to self police and bring the drunk idiots into line.

There’s also clearly a greater problem when English fans go abroad. I can only guess this is to do with some sort of nationalist “conquering” mentality which our nation, embarrassingly seems to be prevalent. I blame the right wing press myself.

So you're walking down the seafront in Brighton in the summer and some pissed up clown pushes you in the sea, apropos of nothing.

That's fine, is it? You'd laugh it off?

Yeah, right...

But that’s not what happened here! Nobody got pushed into the sea. They got wet in a fountain in a city centre amongst a bunch of high spirited fans celebrating. Get a grip for Pedro’s sake. Slightly annoying perhaps but the faux outrage is more prejudicial than anything else. And it’s certainly not newsworthy IMO. As said, hundreds of other more significant events going unreported in that city alone.

The only time in my life, I have ever been pickpocketed was in M&S in Brighton.

No outrage here, just normal service resumed from Merseyside in my eyes, albeit less extreme than before. As for the Pedro comment, some will be offended I’m sure.

Not sure as many people would jump to the support of the other MEGA clubs, bit embarassing. It does seem as if there's a few closet second-teamers on this board. If these were Chelsea fans I'm almost certain it would be widespread condemnation.

I'm sure everyone has their own anecdotes to support their point of view, but this kind of behavior doesn't surprise me and is typical of them in my own experiences. Some of my witnessed and personal altercations with liverpool fans (including everton) have been some of the worst in my 20+ years travelling. Homophobia is rife and the disrespect/self-importance startling.

Every mug is getting super excited about this season's title race (with ridiculous points hauls which further indicate a widening of the gap), for me it's a lose-lose. Leaning towards preferring nation backed, oil funded, ffp breaking Man City at the moment.
