Because it’s an utterly boring piece of music. Those disenchanted with the way their part of the world was treated by the UK establishment, in showing their disapproval, couldn’t be drowned out by all those patriotic Citeh fans.

Why do they insist on playing this ghastly "anthem" before football games? We do not live in the 1600s anymore, nobody, NOBODY cares about that lot and what relevance does this "anthem" have in a football game?

I'm glad the Liverpool lot sang their own anthem, the more that do it the less likely we have to have this thrusted upon us once again.

Thankfully the youth of today couldn't care less about the monarchy so it's only a matter of time before they stop doing it.

sure, thats fair and i dont know why bother for this game when no other club games have it (Cup finals). once an anthem is playing though, we should politelty accept it, remain quiet. once you're saying its ok to boo one, all are up for vocal distruption, and then we have the booing the knee or any other pre-game ritual.

With a long term zero reverence for the National Anthem / an establishment that saw widespread poverty in parts of the UK, whilst some posh rich folk went round fox hunting and grabbing the best seats at sporting events when tournaments got juicy (Wimbledon, Wembley, Twickers).
