How surprising it’s the two clubs who led the attempted blackmail of the football league....

Ridiculous. Do even their own fans want that?

It won't be so much fun for their fans when they are not challenging at the top of the table each ( most ) year.

Fans who are entitled and used to being top dogs each year.

The future meltdown will be something to behold.

It would be a shame as part of the fun of the top division is trying to give one of the "top clubs" a bloody nose.

Still, if they don't want to stay in the PL, they can feck off. A European league will soon become very dull.

It’s alongside the PL

You will basically have Man United A and B

Scandalous, having their cake and eating it. I couldn’t care less if they piss off into a european league to be honest, just as long as it’s ONLY the european league and they can’t field an A & B team.

noted from the article that the champions league is to be revamped again in 2024. They killed that competition.

This new league would soon get very boring

All about the yanks and the ££

Fifa just dont get tradition. Will become like the world club championships. They dont really matter what so ever

Did their fans ever want to have American owners? Significant that these two clubs are at the forefront of this - after all isn't US sport almost entirely structured as closed shops, without relegation?

Fine. But it should be one thing or the other. PL or ESL if you join the european league thats it your done in England at all levels. No PL2 U'23's no youth teams etc etc.

Agree there mate.

National associations could kaibosh this by saying that no player from a team outside their jurisdiction and league system would be eligible for international duty.

It's now up to Liverpool and Man U fans to be heaping pressure on their clubs. They won't be though

You can bet this european ‘Soccer’ league will have:

Loud obnoxious commentators
Adverts during ‘tactical timeouts’ (Named after some sponsor)
Rosters
Drafts
Special matches played at locations around the US and in Asia/Middle East.

International football died years ago - I imagine 75 percent of the players Wouldn’t care.
