For ages, I've been sniffing around for video footage of the Albion's glory days of 1976-83. Basically, like a Beatles fan who was too young in the 1960s, or a punk born after the 1970s, I missed the whole damn thing, apart from the Cup Final (having been born in 1978) and now the whole world has to suffer for it, with me trying to find a time machine to get closer to the era I missed!

Anyway, here's a list of match coverage I've found that are in the public domain. I'd be delighted if anyone here could add to it or add corrections:

Such a shame about the lack of coverage back then, compared to now, and also the poor quality of same. On the rare occasions we were MoTD whilst in the top flight, we were pretty poor, I remember a dire 3-0 at Stke but there was a fine 2-0 win at bolton when Wardy was excellent and Lawernson scored a class goal, which i think was disallowed.

Also, in your list 82/83, the 1-0 win over man Utd was a home win.

Yes, I hope it's still intact in some archive room - and will one day be released. until that happens, i'm just hoping someone recorded some TV programmes at the time and still have those VHS tapes. that's how I managed to get 25 mins of highlights of the Newcastle 0-1 Brighton FA Cup game - some Newcastle fan taped it and kept it!

The first Albion match I ever saw was against Aston Villa in 1973. I remember watching it on MOTD later that night. Also am I right in thinking that Peter Ward's debut goal was on MOTD. Both clips must be out there somewhere.

71/72 was the Villa game.Willie irvines's goal came 2nd in 'Goal of the Season' on MoTD.

Wardy's goal was also on MoTD at the top of the table match at hereford.

Thanks for all the suggestions and corrections. Yes, that Man Utd league game in 1982-3 was at home. And the 7-2 game in 1976/77 in front of Match of the Day cameras was against York - would be amazing to see all the goals in sequence one day.

I've just been sent some Albion coverage from 1970s and 1980s - shall I put them up on YouTube?
