Not my words, no. Not the BBC's, or anyone affiliated with Brighton. No this gem of a quote is from the ludicrously quick and actually quite good match report on Peterborough's website. Here is the link, the quote is in the 7th paragraph down..

"Brighton were knocking the ball about like Real Madrid"

What a day. So many things were said pre-season about Gus and the players and some expectations. We're not there yet, but as some said- it is the teams that count and we are the best team in the league.

Love that quote though, despite possibly being the only person! For me, it really sums up how far we have come in the last year. Remember the moans about.. "Ball to virgo- hooooooof!" . Good times indeed.

Nail on the head about long ball football, but who remembers all those on here that tried to convince me that long ball football was "effective" football :lolol:

According to the radio, Peterborough reporters were saying that our passing the ball to each other and not to Posh was disrespectful! Idiots.

I think that they were saying that we were taking the p..s but I am not sure that that is correct more a case of if we have the ball they cant score.

Indeed. I'm a bit bemused as to why others teams and managers are befuddled by the fact we don't like to waste possession. It is elementary, shirley?

I was trying to find the quote from Poyet, on holding possession, when he first undertook this job. I would like to paraphrase him, but it would not do him justice.

Very true, I picked up on that! I could understand if we were playing keepy uppy, but just taking our time on the ball..

That said I know how much it frustrates forward players on the opposite team, and imagine we will see a few frustrated lunge tackles on our players. Not really something that can be helped however- long live the Real Madrid style!

I got the impression that it wasn't necessarily that we had the ball, but that when we couldn't forward we'd just pass it backwards and knock it about the defence rather than try a hollywood ball

bit silly either way

We were quite awesome today, but re the comments above there were a few bits of unnecessary showboating towards the end, mostly by Dicker but once by Kishishev.

But never mind that, this was the best football I have seen from an Albion team - even including our first division days.

To get a result like this without Lua Lua being involved is incredible. Gus should have unleashed him on them for the last 10 mins just to really demoralise them

I thought the same, until I realised we are playing on Tuesday and I think a fully fit Lua Lua is better than one with lumps taken out of him by a frustrated posh defender...
