Stick me in his position for nine games and i bet I could score 2 goals too....
He was shocking yesterday, deserves to be dropped.
We looked much better with Davies, he deserves a chance at least.

That is a great supporters quote fella. The number of times I would so have chipped Garry Bailey had I been in Gordon Smiths shoes ( ok well boots).

Dickinson is one of the hardest working players in the squad. And we looked f*** all better when Davies came on as he persisted in giving the ball away and all physical presence was gone.

He will soon score and then we will be back slagging off Crofts, another fine player, oh and not to mention Murray and definitely Forster as his goal drought of nine or so games will start next week.

So Dickinson was a physical presence was he????? I must have missed that. For someone who is 6ft 5 or whatever he is he is so lightweight......he seems to have about 1 good game in every 4........really needs to up his game in my opinion.

He draws the defenses attention. This happened all game yesterday. It led to goals.

This happened without him trying, so i appreciate why people slate him. I want to see him doing more. I think we will see it. He will improve, as will the team at large.

I went to the game at Withdean yesterday and didnt see Davies do anything when he came on and was certainly no improvement on Dickenson, who it must be said had a quiet game by his standards, but I am not sure what game other people who saw Davies do a lot were at.

i think davies and murray would make a good foil for one another.

i saw the crawley vs brighton friendly and dickinson and murray didn't seem to suit each other then both too languid.

fozzie and dickinson is working - however shit people claim dickinson is capable of playing.

so there you have it. two ready made partnerships:

davies can work hard / murray for languid attitude and quality

dickinson can impose himself / forster can cream off the top

lovely.

Won more in the air than Dickinson had all game, dropped off to pick up the ball well (did give it away a couple of times though) and was it not him that chested it down on the edge of the box for a chance near the end (Bennetts perhaps?)

There was no might have regarding his performance yesterday, his lack of winning balls in the air was puzzling considering his size, also he seems rather on the slow side both in thought and movement, I considered him promising the last time I saw him but he has to do a lot better to stay in the side.

Having seen him a few times now, he obviously likes the ball to feet, and tries to allow high balls to drop by shielding it from the defender. He did not do this well yesterday which meant that the ball was coming back at us far to quickly.
He is normally good at it though and I think it is a better option than just aimlessly flicking the ball on.
Yesterday he did not play well, but lets not go down the road of slagging him off as we do every other player, or is it just his turn.

Some of the criticism of Dickinson is particularly harsh IMO. Yes he can be pretty weak and get pushed off the ball too easily for someone who is 6ft something, but the fact is that we're scoring plenty of goals and he is directly involved in a fair few of them.

Davies is a headless chicken..he has not got a clue...no control, no touch ,no class.

Davies has all of the above and i think you might be confusing 'headless chicken' with unrelelentless desire. Davies is exactly the kind of player we need at the moment and has shown a lot of promise except perhaps his composure in front of goal but this looks to be improving if you look at his form in the stiffs.
Davies has the potential to bag us 15 plus goals a season which with goals coming from others could make the difference between another relegation scrap or push for the play offs, get behind the poor bloke.

Putting aside that "unrelentless" would mean he frequently relented, I think this is one of those things that if you like a player they have relentless desire, if you don't they are a headless chicken.

Not just with davies, but all over the pitch. Hard working players, those that put in more than their shift are described as 'headless chicken' by people who feel only players with natural talent should be in the team, and if you have to work hard to be successful you don't belong, and try to make you seem clueless.

I was not at the game yesterday, but the couple of times I have seen Dickenson this season I have not been very impressed. For a guy with his height he just does not jump for the ball and wins fewer headers tham almost any Brighton striker I can remember. Gary Hart is much much better in the air.

He's an off form magician, he'll be brilliant soon enough. I think he's just having an opposite run to Forster, he can't score for us at the moment, but he will do soon enough I'm sure. He seems a bit shy to me, I can't explain it. He doesn't seem to want to do the simple, but ugly things. He seems to DESPERATELY want our love and affection, and wants to be flashy and stylish. Imo, if he started flicking the ball on and started demanding crosses into the box onto HIS head, he'd score a hell of a let more than he does.

For fucks sake not another one. How many times do I have to say it.

Yes, he is shit in the air and he's not that strong for his size but that's all you've got on him.

What he lacks in strength he more than makes up for with skill. He gets in good positions and brings other players into the game. He has the ability to make an extra yard of space for himself, that is a sign of a good player. Some of you couldn't spot a decent player if he bit you on the arse.

Davies did ok, but nothing to suggest that he's better than dickinson, he puts in a shift but drifts into the channels too much and is too far away from the other striker. Most people seem to be ignoring when he gave the ball away in the middle of the park or when he fell over it whilst trying to control it. Don't get me wrong, I like him as a player and think he has potential but Dickinson has done nothing wrong and we're getting goals now, so what's the problem?

Spot on. People think that if the tall guy isn't winning balls then automatically he is "shite", although I think he showed at Brentford and Huddersfield that he can win more than enough headers.

I would think these negative traits on a centre forward would have people slating him regardless of whatever else he's got. He should be up there battering the centre halves and winning no less than 50% of the balls up to him. The odd one or two in a match is a crap return...

I was at Huddersfield and the way he despatched the ball over his shoulder with a sublime volley was stupendous, but we need them every other game
