Height, height. Height. Height, height, height. Tall. Shit. Height. Height, height, height. Weak. Height. Height, height. 6'6". Height. For his height. Height, height. Height.

Shut the f*** up.

Alright, forget all that then. Just simply, SHIT. Simple. Forget the height. Just he's shit. Whether a midget or a towering monster. Whether a Heskey or a Rooney. Shit. Can't do the skilful stuff, can't do the simple stuff.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Dickenson set up both Forster's goals at Carlisle? First one was a clever header into Forster's path and second one was a nicely delayed cross to coincide with Forster's run to the near post.

And wasn't that Dickinson's flicked header that set Forster free for our first goal?

By my rather simple brain that makes it 3 assists in 2 games.

But I do understand people's irritation that he isn't:

a. Dribbling round 4 players then scoring (at least every other game)
b. Regularly scoring Peter Crouch type headers at least once a game

After all we did pay money for him... surely that is the least we can expect. He should be in double figures by now.

Using your logic, would you argue that people can't dislike/slate a film or a play because they haven't studied at RADA for four years?

Good point, and would also apply to anyone who started a thread called something like 'Is it me or is every album from established bands this year SHIT'..............but I don't know anyone who would do that :)

I think he works hard and is by no means our worst player.

But, he dosn't seem to challenge for the direct ball we seem to be playing at the moment and dosn't look too threatening with the ball at his feet.

Maybe a couple of games on the bench might not hurt, and Davies did look fairly decent when he came on.

Dickinson is a good player. So is Davies. Dickinson is currently not scoring goals, so lets give Davies a chance for a few games. If that doesn't work, then get Dickinson back in again.

Easy :)

You really are a cock aren't you?

Good point, well made. Ok genuine question, what parts of football do you think Dickinson is good at? Genuinely, what would you say his attributes were? I'm not saying he has NONE, I just want to know what it IS that people rate about him.

I'm only going on the last two games as that's all I've seen of him so far.

He has a good touch. I've seen a few times when he's been given the ball waist high and he's managed to bring it down and lay it off.
He has the ability to make a yard of space for himself and then pick a decent pass.
He tracks back when we haven't got the ball.
He gets in good positions. He makes good runs off the ball to open up space for Forster.
He is generally quite close to Forster so little lay-offs and flick-ons are easy. For me, that was a big difference between and Davies at the weekend. Davies kept running into the channels to get the ball, and then once he was there he was isolated from the other striker, either that or dropping too deep to pick it up.

The bad points are well documented so I won't go into them.

I think the problem is that the things I've listed are the sort of things alot of people either don't notice, or don't understand. They only see the mistimed jumps for balls in the air or him getting pushed off the ball. I'm not trying to say he's the next Zamora, but he cirtainly isn't shit. He is a MUCH cleverer footballer than Davies.

OK well from what I've seen:

Dreadful touch. Lost the ball 70% of the time it was knocked to him. Bounced off him other times.

Fair enough on point two, he's a big bloke so yes has a presence that enables him to make space for himself.

He didn't track back much when I saw him, but I think he was asked to stay up top.

He generally has run into Bennett's area when I've watched him.

His little lay offs and flicks to Forster didn't work at all when I saw him, he generally seemed to just punt the ball aimlessly in the air in the hope that Forster was near it. He usually wasn't.

So plus points - he makes space for himself. Which should be a given for what is a pretty huge bloke.

He has a good scoring record at County and Huddersfield, he creates chances for Forster, he runs down the channels well and holds up the ball when played to his feet. He is not as good in the air as one would expect from a big bloke.

Finally someone talking a bit of sense!!! People tend to see he is big and think very unwittingly that he should win every ball in the air and be "The Lump". He offers much more than say what Andrew or Owusu offered.

He has raw talent and he has the ability to change a match and when on form tear teams apart. Okay he hasn't done that yet but his record for Stockport, his fierce shot from 35 yards against walsall, his willingness and work ethic at Brentford, his quality goals against stockport and Huddersfield show he is a class act.

I cant believe people have called him lazy!!! His determination and work ethic is plain for the eye to see. If you were close to the bench on Saturday and have seen the picture in the Argus you would see how much he cares and is willing to do well.
