Dicko is just one of those players who looks ungainly and awkward on the pitch. He has already shown some classy skills with the ball at his feet. Having a 6'4" striker up front is giving Fozzy more chances to ramp up his goal tally from knock ons or the oppostion defence concentrating on marking Dicko as the aerial threat.

I would think these negative traits on a centre forward would have people slating him regardless of whatever else he's got. He should be up there battering the centre halves and winning no less than 50% of the balls up to him. The odd one or two in a match is a crap return...

I was at Huddersfield and the way he despatched the ball over his shoulder with a sublime volley was stupendous, but we need them every other game

While I disagree with your opinions on Liam Dickenson & believe he contributes far more than he is given credit for. can I just say well done for your user name.. Took me a while but very amusing.

Why?

He is tall. That doesn't mean he's a target man, people need to get the idea that he's going ever going to be some big bustling striker out of their heads. He was shit yesterday - but that's not why he was shit. Just because he's tall doesn't mean he has to be Emile Heskey.

It's the same reason Capello doesn't play Rooney and Defoe together in the England starting XI. They are too alike. I think a lot of people on this thread are alluding to Dickinson being more of a ball player who might prefer the ball into feet to weave a bit of magic? If this is the case, we already have a player like that on the park called Nicky Forster and it doesn't normally follow to have two players so alike on the pitch. It's as if they're competing for the same type of delivery? For me, an attacking duo need to be a bit chalk and cheese ???

We are scoring goals at the moment though. Its not Dickinsons fault we are leaking at the back.

I agree that a varied pair generally is better, though two similar players can work sometimes, but I don't think Dickinson is the same type of player as Forster. Since he's performed, at best, sporadically it's difficult to be entirely sure what he IS, but I wouldn't compare him to Forster in his style of play at all.

Agreed, we should be looking at partnerships. If you look at Peter Ward and Ian Mellor, Spider did all the hard work and Wardy just waltzed past the last two defenders and stuck in the onion bag. Dickinson and Forster have scored 9 goals between them in 8 league games, if they get 35-40 for the season that would be great...................if the midfield start to contribute goals too, and to date that is the area that has come up short.

How many of Forster's goals has Dickinson directly set up, or been involved with?

Surely, the fact that he is there drawing the attention of defenders contributes to Forsters goals

I don't want to knock him, the jury is still out and he has shown flashes of promise, but you can's say his main attribute is simply existing.
The talk of partnerships just seems a little disingenuous to me as whenever I've seen him he's generally been quite a peripheral figure most of the time.

The first one yesterday and one at Carlisle also come to mind.

Sure enough. I don't understand some fans, look at the thread title, what on earth has he done to deserve that.
its like the Murray debate, Seems to be slagged off because he cost us money. Murray is still the classiest forward we have imo & I hope Dickinson can eventually match him.

I don't understand some fans.

Some people have sad and empty little lives and expect the Albion to provide the only crumb of comfort in their otherwise tragic existence on this planet.

When we get stuffed at home yet again, they can't cope with it and feel obliged to abuse the players/management/club in general on NSC as it is an easy option.

The irony that nearly all of them could not run the length of the pitch, let alone score a goal themselves, is of course lost of them, as it most irony.

Simples.

Using your logic, would you argue that people can't dislike/slate a film or a play because they haven't studied at RADA for four years?

Height, height. Height. Height, height, height. Tall. Shit. Height. Height, height, height. Weak. Height. Height, height. 6'6". Height. For his height. Height, height. Height.

Shut the f*** up.

big deal he still needs to score himself thats what he gets paid for

Surely he is paid to play football, but paid a bonus to score.

I seem to remember that you are a Davies fan and not a Brighton fan, so your opinion is slightly biased.
