I'm not sure how these things work. Is it just possible that he has appointed an agent because he knows there is interest and he wants to concentrate on his football, rather than continual enquiries?

Going to the press, telling them you want to play in the Prem and you have a new agent on day 1 of the transfer window says he wants to go either now or at the end of the season. Good luck to him.

I don't think Liam is stupid, would need to be the right club - or maybe we will make him a new contract offer. He just spent £600k on a house in Worthing I believe, so seems to be settling in the area.

We will see, will be a major kick in the teeth but he is a class player, so we should expect it.

He was hardly welcomed with open arms when he joined, as Poyet constantly made it clear he was a short-term fix to Navs' injury. How ironic that our best player was only signed as short-term cover, with the money we have wasted on others.

Compared to Cms who Poyet was going to build a team around pmsl....It's would be quite amusing if it was someone else.

Erm, "going to the press"? More likely he had a call from an Argus reporter, and answered their questions.
"Telling them you want to play in the Prem"? It's hardly news, is it? Any decent player in the Championship wants to play in the Premier League, as well as lots of mediocre ones.
"Telling them you have a new agent on day 1 of the transfer window" - well if the Argus reporter was doing his job, he'd have heard that Mark Cartwright had a new job at Stoke, so probably asked him about the agent situation.

Players have ambitions, like the rest of us. Our promotion push has stalled somewhat so of course if a tempting offer from a Premier League team comes in, he's going to give it serious consideration. Who wouldn't, in his situation?

Of course, we all hope he stays and helps us get up this season or next. But every quality player has his price and we simply aren't big or rich enough to say no at any price, more's the pity.

Play hard ball like everyone does with us

= a selling club mentality, again, despite having vast income from the Amex = mediocrity on the pitch.

Whilst Cardiff and others spend on players to progress.

Bridcutt and Buckley should not be sold at any price.

it's time to buy quality and get rid of the far less talented cloggers.

You seem to be ignoring the fact that Bridcutt has a choice with such interviews. Like all of us, Naylor probably knows he has Prem ambitions and maybe knew about his agent situation. But there is a lot of difference between Naylor musing over these items and Bridcutt providing quotes. Without doubt Bridcutt has put himself in the shop window by saying this to the press and knew what he was doing.

No, it means our best 3 players are all attractive to other teams, meaning we must be doing something right.

If we were top 6 they wouldn't be leaving by choice and would hang around to the end of the season. Problem is with the way we are currently playing heads are easily turned in other directions and that is the only thing we are doing right

Trust me, if a player refuses to talk to the press or comes out with 'no comment' to the kind of questions Naylor might have asked, it prompts far more speculation that something's afoot than if he simply gives straight answers. He's already in the shop window in any case.

This.

Gus has failed to meet their expectations. You can sell the amazing stadium to players, but the failure in scouting, coaching and team morale .... has led to the under achievement on the pitch.

So he is young ambitious and wants to play in the prem (ideally with us) but if not with someone else. And this is different from any other player is it? I would be more worried if he came out and said he was going to plod on in the championship for the rest of his career.

Players are ambitious if clubs want to keep them they have to match that ambition.

f***ing right. None of this shit we went through with Bennett when we basically let him go for far beneath his value because we won't stand in anyone's way.

Exactly. As we've seen often enough before, players will only show loyalty to a club up to a point. If a better offer comes along, why wouldn't they look at it?
