WSU, just below the seagull.
Hi can anyone recommend a good pub / restaurant in the Lewes Road area, i don't know the area very well.

This request is actually coming from my 88 year old grandfather, he would like somewhere that serves traditional food rather than all this "foreign crap"

As we will be having a family meal to honour my grandmother that sadly passed away last weekend.

Over to you good people & thanks.

Sorry to hear of your sad news.

I suggest the Franklin Tavern in Lewes Road a pub that does traditional English food.

Their number is 01273 602995

Hope all goes smoothly

Which end of Lewes Road?

If it's down near the cemetaries then you're not really spoiled for choice to be honest.

There's The Bear at the bottom of the hill going up towards the racecourse but I think it's fairly studenty. Otherwise there are a handful of fairly dingy looking places as you head further into Brighton, but I've yet to find one I've really enjoyed.

You might well be better off veering away from Lewes Road, regular buses mean this shouldn't be too much of a hassle. If in doubt head to Kemptown. Plenty of good old fashioned boozers with proper food and well kept ales
