Great day. Redbridge 4-0 up, Lewes then missed a penalty but still won 5-4, I can't remember ever seeing a comeback like it. Harveys on tap throught the game, a proper terrace to drink it on, lots of abuse of local NIMBY toadie MP Norman Baker, very appropriate Build a Bonfire chants, great welcome..
WE WANT FALMER!
WITH A PROPER TERRRACE!
AND PROPER BEER!
AND AN OCCASIONAL COMEBACK TO WIN 5-4 FROM 4-0 DOWN!
(OK, one thing at a time...)

It was a great day.
Redbridge scored their first goal within a minute and by 3.15 were 3-0 up. The Lewes fans were still upbeat saying they were the comeback kings.
There was a chant of Brighton fans bringing a jinx with them but it was all done with humour. They missed a penalty.

The second half it was completely different as you can see by the scoreline. Whatever Lewes give their players at half time, can we please have some for the Albion.
Redbridge must be completely shellshocked that after being 4-0 up, they lost.

Good to meet some more Nsc'ers today.

Great day out. Don't get to many games like that. Harveys before, during and after the game.  :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink:
The football standard wasn't good but was very entertaining.

I wish I could have made it. My mum's side of the family were big Rooks fans. My dad's side supported The Dockers (Newhaven). I guess I'm just a glory hunter.

Brilliant match, the more Redbridge scored the louder the Lewes fans sung.

And to think I said when Lewes had their first penalty "they need this to stand any chance" and they then missed it.

As I said at the end what football fan could ask for more:

Terraces
Beer
Missed Penalty
Sending Off
Nine goal thriller

Good to meet some of the faces behind the user names

Very useful to have the mother in law living in Lewes as well - babysitter and room for the night - meant we spent the evening sampling various pubs around the town finishing up watching the Calaborators in a pub down the Cliffe

Great hospitality from Lewes FC. Chairman Terry Parris said that he was bowled over by the support from NSC and Albion supporters in general. He is 100 per cent behind the Albion in the struggle for Falmer and is looking forward to the two Clubs and their supporters continuing to work together in the future.

I'm not quite sure what happened when Yorkie, Roz (and the camera) went into the home changing room about twenty minutes after the final whistle. No doubt the DAFT Bints will get to see the pictures at their next gathering.

???

The beer flowed freely all afternoon. Probably slightly too freely for my head. Certainly too freely for my tongue. Did I really start a post-match conversation with the three match officials with the words "Who's the wanker in the black?" - only for one of the linos to point to the guy on his left and answer "He is"?

:lolol:

And the five-four victory? What can you say? I think the Lewes Chairman found the right word in his post-match comments to the Redbridge Chairman:- "Sorry".

:)

And no-one has yet posted this from the matchday programme:-

Less than a fortnight 'til the Boro boys are in town for what is, IMHO, the biggest all-Sussex game since the Albion played Crawley in the cup.

Boxing Day and NYFD are going to be watershed days for Sussex non-league football.

Awesome.

Absolutely cracking day! Great hospitality, reportedly excellent beer (I was driving :nono: ), highly entertaining game, fine company....

Although it's curious that Yorkie didn't mention the dressing room bit in her report ;) ;) ;) ;)

Boxing Day at Priory Lane, are you going? Got a feeling I'll be well up for that after being bored SHITLESS the day before.

Marvellous scenes all round. A magnificent Harvey's Festival.

Great game, beer, excitement, beer, goals, beer, red card, beer, free food, beer. And some beer. Lewes looked after us very well, and we cannot thank them enough for their support and hospitality. I even missed the first goal having gone for a slash. My golden goal ticket came up as 'NO SCORE'.

But you could feel it coming, once Lewes had got their second goal early in the scond half, there was no way they were not going to win. Once it got to 5-4, it got a bit boring to be honest. :D

And yes, Yorkie, tell us about your time in the Lewes changing room.

Drink then wherever you may be
We are drunk and disorderly
And we'll drink you all wherever you may be
And we are drunk and disorderly

:lolol: :lolol: :lolol:

Oh, and when the Tom Hark single has run its course, Lewes FC is happy to sell the single on our behalf.

Nah, going to the Gills game at Withers.

Can't wait for NYD though. Things have become so depressing at the Albion that the game has become a real beacon for me. Uncle Julian and the crew are beside themselves with excitement about it. I reckon the attendance could top 2,000!

I can only echo what others have already posted. It was also nice to have proof of what some of us have been saying for sometime - There is support for Falmer in Lewes. Norman, are you listening?
