Mark King is a very talented bass player.

Hit the underground jazz funk scene with the excellent 'Love Games', King at his best.

Established a huge following with early british funk contributions and massive dance hits 'Starchild' and 'Turn It On', in 1981.

Everything after went downhill with housewife friendly chart poopers, including 'Chinese Way', The Sun Goes Down', 'Lessons In Love', 'Running In The Family', 'Leave Me Now' - awful. And as for 'Tracie' well...

Saw them at Canterbury University in 1981 when they supported Duran Duran believe it or not.

I'm not sure whether to be more amazed that they supported Duran Duran or that Duran Duran were booked to play at Canterbury University.
All the same, talented or not, there's no excuse for "Lessons In Love" and "Sons And Daughters", although at the time I probably thought they were groovy.........

play the bass under your shin with your tongue stuck out, wearing a pink tank top like mark king

play the bass round your knees throwing rock god poses like peter hook

which is more likely to get you a good hard shag?
